BUG: can't join toypocalypse with party
same reason we couldn’t play in the clocktower with a party?
I have no idea what that reason is, but would like to see all festival activities able to be done with friends who you’re partied with. activities with friends is way more fun.

Whilst I do agree it should be fixed, it unfortunately is not a simple fix. I am surprised it is still an ongoing issue, but at least they have been upfront about it.

I asked for this the other years and Anet keeps ignoring it like it’s nothing…
Isn’t this game about playing with your friends and your guild? Having fun together?
THen why…WHY? can’t I play Toypocalype with my friends, my party, instead of being put in a random party with random people, making this activity just a pointless farm fest?
I spent so much time trying to Join my friends in their instance of Toypocalypse….. and unlike the other years I was totally unable to join them!

Here’s what they’ve said. Apparently it’s still not fixable at this time.
After the 2013 Toypocalypse there were changes to the game that broke the underlying functionality for Toypocalypse. For 2014 the team was trying to fix the bug (and really, they went up past the absolute last second to try and fix it) but ultimately had to decide between the activity working or being cut – it was that unplayable. It wasn’t a lightly made decision, especially since it had worked the year before and players liked it.
The team would still like to fix it but it isn’t a simple switch or anything. Reverting the change would break significant other parts of the game.
Soo…. I would rather queue with friends too, but I’d also like to be able to do the activity. It’s a rough tossup.

I just heard from the team about this, and it is an unfortunate but intended change. The alteration came about because code changes were required in order to stabilize PvP and some Instance Activities. According to one of our lead designers, the change cannot be revisited for this year’s release. Thanks for your understanding concerning this necessary adjustment.
Bottom line: This was not a “choice.” This was not a decision made without thought, or carelessly, or in error. This was a necessary change that stabilized the game, for both PvP and Activities.
We understand that you would have preferred that this change not be made, but the cost of not making this change was too significant to let it slide. The change was necessary and as much as we regret any dissatisfaction that you may feel in relation to it, according to the designers it must remain in this state for this year’s release.

I’m not sure how a completely seperate game mode can affect PvP, and how simply changing it so it at least puts you in the same instance that your party members are (instead of strangers) is a big problem, since the game mode is clearly working. It’s a shame though. It’s hard to enjoy it when you do it with complete strangers.

because whoever built that originally started on the eggnogs early and built a PvE thing using PvP parts. That was quite obvious with the original version since it would show your PvP gear while inside.
