Maybe a noob thing to ask but why is there a little tick on back armour to hide or show it tho when you click to show the back piece it seems to make no difference to how the back looks?

I have a charred back brace thing tho it don’t show any changes to how my back looks.

I s it only certain back pieces that visually make a change or am I being stupid?

^That. Some back pieces are just for stats and don’t have a visible skin.

Some back pieces, like the Fractal Capacitor or the new Sclerite Karka Shell (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sclerite_Karka_Shell) can be shown. Hence the tick is there in case you want not to show them.
