Hey all, just looking for opinions and ideas for Bandit Crests. I go to SW a lot. It’s the place I like to play most, because it takes teamwork and coordination, it’s fun and also rewarding. However, I am amassing a huge amount of bandit crests, and I’ve plumb run out of things to spend them on, since we only have so much to choose from. I have tons of keys and extractors, bought a mini, have all armor for all weights, etc etc.

I feel that spending 20s in addition to 25 crests for one rare bag is stupidly expensive, as are the other bags you can buy. I have all the recipes. I don’t use tonics.

So, what would you like to see available in addition to what’s already there, for us to spend our crests on? I’d like to see, for one thing, the coin cost of bags lowered, and the addition of things like ascended trinkets, T6 materials, dyes, etc. I mean, I just bought a mini today that I didn’t even want just to free up some bag space. I would really rather get something useful that doesn’t actually cost me as much as just buying it outright. What do you all think? Surely others must be facing the same thing as me.

The Silverwastes and by extension bandit crests already come out top in far too many areas. If you’ve bought all the rewards, move on to a different area or convert to the bags on the second tab or keys. No more rewards need to be added to that area.

I too think bandit crests have too few uses. The only thing I spend them on now is skeleton keys and sometimes the bandit loot bags. Before you get all the carapace boxes you have something to work towards with them but after that they really start piling up in your inventory. I don’t farm SW too often and I still have 3k crests that I don’t know what to do with.
A suggestion would be that you could trade them for some kind of booster that helps with silverwastes farming (maybe one that gives the ‘hero of the wastes’ buff for an hour even if you change zones?). I am sure many people will use them then because it will make farming there even more rewarding. There is of course the option that the heavy bag of materials that drops t6 could be added but I think the booster would be a more unique thing to work towards.

Bandit Crests have plenty of uses already. You can essentially trade them in for gold if you don’t care for any of them (via the various gear or supply bags).

I wouldn’t mind being able to trade geodes for crests and vice-versa, though. Or at least, use them in both zones.

buy 2 minis (not just 1)
buy all 3 endless tonics
buy all insignia recipes (exotic + ascended)
buy all inscription recipes (exotic + ascended)
buy the jewel recipe
buy all ascended trinkets to unlock them

spend the rest for:
Obsidian Shards and Bags of Stolen Goods

They make for passable toilet paper.

I’ve found that Bag of Stolen Goods is the most efficient use of them. either by selling to TP or opening; both will give you around 5s. minus ~1s cost = 4s profit per 10 crests = 40c/crest (1g per stack)
sandy bag of gear: ~3s green item + 50c – 1s cost = 2.5s per 15 crests = 16c/crest
obby shard: 1s + 50 crests for equivalent of 2100 karma. if 40c/crest, then 2100 karma would be worth 21s = 10s/1000 karma. that’s not the worst return for karma, but not the best either. If you really need these, then it’s not bad.
but in terms of converting crest to gold, go with Bag of Stolen Goods

Then there would be no reason to stay in Drytop, it’s pretty much the only long term goal in drytop.
Area currencies just like dungeon currencies should not be inter convertible, you want to force the players to play/spend time in each specific piece of content, not let them play 100% of their time in one zone.

No one wants to be in Dry Top anyway :p

Because it would be bad game design if they just kept adding more rewards to the one area. You should not be able to keep repeating the same thing over and over to endlessly generate new rewards, you want more rewards go do something new, if you enjoy your time farming the wastes then continue doing so, but understand that they can’t just keep adding more rewards for that one minor specific area. I mean that area already has the highest gold yield, obby shard yield, bolt of damast yield in addition to having a bunch of unique rewards and 2 armor sets associated with it for something as easy as open world. Adding anything more to it would be insane.

you do realize you can exchange the crests for loot bags on the last tab, right?

I’m not talking about sandy bags of gear or rare bag of gear…. I’m talking about loot bags.

They have a decent t6 mat drop rate as well.

The only thing that comes from the bags that doesn’t get converted into cash are the account bound cooking items and the gathering tools.

…other than that its a pretty solid crests to cash conversion.
