Bank space is worse than F2P games
Anet provides you enough bank space to enjoy the game. If you need more, you have the option of buying extra. You aren’t Entitled to more stuff simply because your needs demand it.
stop hoarding useless stuff
we have to do things others may qualify as “evil”.

You said I have enough bank space in one sentence then admitted I need more in the next. Your fanboy logic has no power here
If you’re a new player, you might have missed that crafting items have their own slots in collections and don’t need to be put in regular storage.
Other than crafting materials, I’m not sure what you’d have already to save so much of. Sell or decon the weapons you’re not using right now, etc.
Your materials tab actually provides you with a lot of convenient space, and you can deposit the materials that fit in it at anytime via the gear icon in your inventory. That one tab should be more than enough for a new player. A lot of people will also create mule characters or personal guilds to store extra items on if they need that extra space.
What? This has nothing to do with materials.
I don’t want to deconstruct legendary gear, and I don’t want to open good boxes on low level characters. It’s not like I’m hoarding level 14 greens here.
If you have a spare guild slot open, create a new guild for yourself. Go to the guild upgrades and get enough influence to buy the 50 slot tab for 2-5gold of influence. 25gold for the 100 slot bag after all is said and done. Just be sure not to quit that guild with only yourself in it for than the guild bank gets destroyed also.

Actually, it’s basic logic mate. You have enough space to enjoy the game, period. If your own needs to hold stuff exceeds what’s provided, then that’s your own choice to hold all that extra stuff. At that point, it’s also your choice to purchase more space or to delete stuff.
IF you don’t want to delete stuff, then buy Gems. Anet profits, and you can enjoy the game. See, pretty simple.
use one of your character to store those account bound items, until you have enough gold to convert to gems. buy the bank tabs whenever there is a sale offer. i did that. have 12 tabs now.
Archeage = Farmville with PK
They either provide enough space or they don’t.
There’s no substance to your argument, you’re just saying I don’t have a right to complain because I can buy more space if I “really” need it. That’s my whole issue in the first place though:
The cash shop should be for luxury purchases. I want to store more than 30 items and do not consider that a luxury. To that you have essentially said “not uh”.
I am wondering what items you received in the ‘first 10 hours of game-play’ that caused your bank to overflow.
Could you provide a list? Maybe some advice on what to do with all those items could be given, then.
Good luck.
Don’t charge me $40 for a game then demand I drop another $10 to be able to store a tiny fraction of the stuff I get in the first 10 hours of play.
If you filled up your bank with a tiny fraction of stuff worth keeping that you received in the first 10 hours of play you are extremely lucky with drops. You would have received more keepable items in 10 hours than every player ever in GW2 . You should feel happy for that.
As a word of advise, you don’t have to put everything that drops in your bank. There are good resources for doing so. The trading post for one, you know sell that stuff! You can also salvage stuff and deposit the mats.

OP, the game is out for 2.5 years and I’ve seen this complaint maybe 3 times. It might very well be your opinion, but it’s not a popular opinion and it’s not an opinion that has stopped people from spending money on the game.
So if you don’t want to spend money on the game because you’ve arbitrarily labeled it greedy, that’s quite okay. There are lots of people who don’t spend money on this game, and you’re entitled to that opinion.
It won’t change anything because, as I said, we’ve barely heard this complaint in 2.5 years and believe me, this community is not bashful. If they don’t like stuff they let you know.
So don’t spend money if that’s how you feel. But it won’t change the game.
Heck, I have 4 level 20s sharing one bank tab of 30 slots on my alt account. You must not be selling or salvaging your stuff if you’re filling it up in 10 hours.
Are you salvaging or selling your drops?
I will repeat this once more as Shifted seems to be glossing over the fact that there are cheap alternatives to buying bank space
1) Use free character slots, or rarely played alts as mules
2) Create your own one man guild that uses up just one of your available five guild slots. If you don’t want to spend the time repping it to earn influence, you can spend a very small amount of gold to buy the guild bank upgrades.
I didn’t get any legendary items my first 10 hours of gameplay…
Dang you, RNG gods!
Don’t… demand I drop another $10 to be able to store a tiny fraction of the stuff I get in the first 10 hours of play.
I don’t want to deconstruct legendary gear, and I don’t want to open good boxes on low level characters.
Do you actually have a legendary weapon??
As for the equipment bags/boxes, just open them, dude. You will get A LOT of them. They aren’t intended to be hoarded in your bank forever.
you’re just saying I don’t have a right to complain because I can buy more space if I “really” need it.
No one has said you don’t have a right to complain. You DID complain, and no one stopped you. We just think your complaints are petty, and you are fussing over nothing.
Seriously, what is in this bank of yours, that’s so important??
I am wondering what items you received in the ‘first 10 hours of game-play’ that caused your bank to overflow.

It’s all loot boxes and legendary gear from boxes that I can open without them depending on my level. If it’s a token box or something I open it and I still have to open some and (IMO) waste them on worthless leveling stuff.
When I get leveling gear I want to save, it goes on the character I’m saving it for. I don’t want a bunch of clutter on my characters though and that’s what the bank should be for.
You guys shouldn’t be so happy to pay a bunch of money for storage space. Even if you bought gems with gold/AP, you still could have gotten something fun instead if they weren’t so greedy.
OH geez … We’ve been playing for 2.5 years with not enough BANK SPACE!!!!! Glad you told us! I’m not sure how we have managed to do it. Must be a miracle.
<<mind blown>>
In my opinion they give you a far amount of starter storage space. You start with a bag that holds 20 slots, your bank tab which holds 30 slots, and your material storage which holds all basic crafting materials.
You received Legendary Gear in the first 10 hours of game-play???
Wow! Talk about lucky accounts! Sell some of it, then use the gold to buy bank space. Problem solved.
Also, just as a tip, opening Champion boxes, gear bags, etc. is more profitable on lower-level characters. Again, gold that you can use to get bank space free of any real-cash monetary cost.
Good luck.
It’s all loot boxes and legendary gear from boxes that I can open without them depending on my level.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means…
What color is this gear you’re talking about? Because you obviously aren’t talking about legendary stuff here…

If this is true then it is one of the few good posts in the thread. I’m not sure I buy it though- how is this the case?
OP, I’d be interested to see a screen shot of your bank and all the valuable items in it. Maybe some of us can give you some advice how to clean it up a bit. We are a helpful bunch after all.

My bad, I mean exotic.

+10 for the priceless quote
The mats gained from salvaging mid-to-low-level gear sells for far more than mats from Level 80 gear.
If you check the TP for what gear is selling for, you will see this is so. You should be selling or salvaging most gear that you receive.
Good luck.
My bad, I mean exotic.
what level are said exotics? Are they useful to you? Or do you mean orange boxes? Because if you have champion boxes, I’d suggest opening them instead of hoarding. Not to mention silver doubloons can only be gotten by low levels, hence their TP price is 2G.
things like Linen and Wool is also super profitable for their level. Meaning that salvaging blues and greens is a good idea at low levels.
What the OP is saying is he doesn’t want to open bags on a low level character, because those bags are worth more on a high level character. My advice to the OP is to make a story character, get him bags and use his bags to hold that stuff temporariily until you’re the level you want.
Only a tiny tiny percentage of players starting a new MMO hold every bag that get in hopes of raising it’s value and in this game it wouldn’t matter that much and seems like overkill.
But playing that way is a choice. It doesn’t mean you don’t have enough bank space. It means you’re doing something that wasn’t really intended to do by the game and it’s not enough bank space for you.
Open your bags, sell your crap you won’t have that problem. If you choose to play differently you have to find work arounds. That’s always been true.
He got exotic gear within the first 10 hours of playing??? Is that even possible? As far as I know that doesn’t drop until about level 65. I suspect he is talking about the gem store armor skins though. That can go in his wardrobe. He really doesn’t need to use that until he gets his level 80 gear.
Mid-tier gear, generally stuff that salvages into tier 2-4 materials tend to be worth more because of less supply compared to tiers 5-6 which have an oversupply. Ascended crafting also uses lower tier materials and as such keeps tiers 2-4 rather inflated.
The only benefits to opening boxes on level 80 characters is that you will get tier 7 materials (The pink stuff) which you will quickly find you will have tons of anyway. You’ll also get more rares and exotics that in my opinion will help counter the less valuable green gear.
“Leveling” gear is also not really worth hoarding, as basic level appropriate blue/green gear is cheap to buy for alts, and that gear can then be resold or salvaged when you replace it.
Alright im bored of replying but I got some good tips so thanks.
Still Anet should give way more bank space. I mean god kitten , maybe appreciate that I’m buying and playing your game. Bank slots really can’t be that much of their shop revenue, and it’s definitely the single least fun thing you can buy from it.

No it’s not. OP is complaining about things he knows nothing about based on assumptions he’s made. Instead of asking, he’s made a QQ thread about a non-issue that all the rest of us have dealt with and figured out.

Wow, and here I thought I was short of bank space with 5 lvl 80 chars…(Don’t even want to think about those altoholics)
Shifted, if you can, screenshot and upload your bank tab so ppl can see what you can do about space.
Yes, you can farm for gold to convert to gems to buy bank tabs. It’s 600 gems for a new tab IIRC. That’d be between 50-60g if I’m not mistaken (no access to game atm so someone pls correct me if I’m short).
But best policy is to have better inventory management. With 5 lvl 80s, 4 of which I play regularly, I use the 5th as a mule to carry extra stuff. The other 4 all carry the extra armour and weapons needed for general adventuring as well as harvest tools and salvage kits. A personal guild for bank purposes is a common solution, but you’ll need to invest some gold to get the influence for the bank tab.
OP we would love to see a screenshot of your bank contents

The amount of time spent in making this thread could have easily been spent on making an alt for bag space. 5 minutes to make the alt + ~10g for 4 18 slot bags (less if you make them yourself) would give you 92 slots.
Even if youre capped on alts (since if you filled a 5 extra bank tabs in 10 hours you must be the worlds fastest mmo player and probably have 5 level 80’s by now), its still more effective to buy character slots and use those toons as bank alts than it is to buy bank tabs themselves, especially if you buy those slots when they are on sale, which happens every few months.
The more you know!

It might have had something to do with how confrontational your OP was. There was stuff you didn’t know, but instead of asking you basically came here and said I’m not spending any money on this game because the company is greedy.
Now if you were playing this game for a long time and realized this was probably unreasonable, you might very well respond the same way.
Bank space is enough because there is the colectible tab.
i think what this shows, is that the overall item system, isnt very intuitive for newbs. This maybe because they now give you a lot more stuff early on.
The bank space is adequate because you have the account wallet, collectibles tab and wardrobe. What are you even filling your bank with?

Well, it’s not like we’ve seen a barrage of these complaints either. There is however a strong point to what you say.
I help new people all the time and there are tons of things people save that they don’t know they don’t need, including stuff that drops from events that are finished that have no cash value and nothing can be done with them.

From the sounds of it, he’s hoarding loot bags because he was told to hang on to them until he can open them on a max-level character. The game doesn’t tell you to do that, nor is it the natural thing a player would ordinarily do. Some endgame player probably told him about it, so he got it into his head that it was incredibly important to do that.
Frankly, I think it’s silly — especially if you don’t even have a max level character yet, and have gotten to the point that you’re raging on the forums about bank space. I mean, just take a step back and consider the big picture here. You’re letting item bags stress you out and stop you from enjoying the game.
Seriously, OP, just open the bags. Either equip what you get, or sell it, or salvage it for materials and magic find so you have a chance at better equipment in the future. Sure, it is more efficient to open bags on an 80 character — but if doing so sours your experience and possibly prevents you from even reaching 80 in the first place, you are wasting your own time.
Yes, space is far too expensive. Yes, it should never have cost gems. But good luck convincing the fanboys who bought space 2 years ago that it needs to change.
Oh and evidently in a game about collecting stuff and cosmetics, you are not supposed to ‘hoard’ things. Oh unless you buy overpriced space that is. Then you are allowed…
/rollseyes
People who think this is greedy should play Lotro for a while. You have bank space per character, which you can upgrade. You have shared bank space (which is the default in Guild Wars 2) which you can pay to upgrade and then you have a seperate bank space for outfits which you can pay to upgrade.
I think people need to get out more and see what’s out there before saying this is worse.
Oh and it will only get worse, OP. Get ready for the living story content, where they throw zillions of new items and currencies that do not go into your collection tabs.
I think the legendary loot he is getting is the bloodstone dust and empyreal fragments. OP, you should just delete those mats if you are hoarding too much of then, they just drop too much even though they are a high tier crafting mat, you dont need to hoard then.
And forum bug…
as the other people have said, i’d love to see a screenshot of your bank to see what’s really taking so much space. Not even for arguing or to help you clean it, i’m just curious how you managed to fill your bank so fast. it took me ’til looong after max level to manage to fill out my bank (but it seems you have given up arguing your point)
I’ve been playing for a bit over 2 years and one bank space would probably still work for me. granted, i have 3 bank slots currently (gotten via in-game gold, mind you (though i would be more than happy to invest some dollars into the game, given the lack of sub fee.)) but a lot of the items i don’t need at all and simply keep because i don’t “need” to trash them
