Hi I was wondering if it was at all possible to get some added slots to the banks for some of the materials we seem to be gathering lately. I’d like one for the Berries from Cracked in the Ice, perhaps larger holders for Emerpyal Crystals, Dragonite Ore and Bloodstone Dust, Petrified Wood, and Blood Rubies. Its a real struggle to be shor on room and I just though we could put somethings in storage to aid us. Thanks

A-net has already said that they will be adding Petrified Wood and Blood Rubies to the material storage. I’m pretty sure they’ll be doing the same for the berries. As for the Empyreal Crystals, Dragonite Ore, and Bloodstone Dust, just buy those material storage expanders, which increases the maximum stack size in the material storage by 250.

Unless Lynsey made a new post on Reddit she was only considering rubies and wood being added to the mat storage, it wasn’t set in stone yet. And it would be kittening stupid to add them considering they are primarily a currency

Thanks for responding all. Didn’t see the post for Material Expansion. And yep I already purchased the expansions but their is still a lot out in the bank. I wonder if their is a list somewhere of things that have no value in the game or things that can be destroyed etc.

You might consider using the Wiki. Of course, it can’t tell you what, if any, future use an item might have.

Good luck.

Then add them to currency? This is only going to get worse before it gets better if they keep adding a different currency for every new map!

I don’t think it would be possible to create a list like that. There are no items in the game which have literally no purpose and can only be destroyed, and anything beyond that is subjective.

For example there are items with only one, very specific purpose, like items you collect as part of a heart and are supposed to give to the NPC or otherwise use, like the Marsh Frog in Bloodtide Coast or Stolen Sacks of Feed in Queensdale. So whether you can delete them depends on your progress with that particular heart. And I know of at least 1 person who always carries a Marsh Frog in their inventory.

Or there’s items like Marjory’s Journal and the 3 Journals from Bloodstone Fen which don’t do anything useful but do serve as a memento of what we’ve done and a reminder of some of the lore. Or Gift From Scarlet which doesn’t do anything except explode and kill you. I still have all 5 of those (and some other bits and pieces) in my bank and I definitely want to keep them.

And more conventional things like junk items whose only purpose is to be sold to a vendor. They don’t need to be kept, but also shouldn’t be deleted because you can make money by selling them (and some are quite valuable).

Trying to make a list of items which can be deleted would have to involve so many caveats and explanations that it’d be impossible to follow clearly.

I think the best approach if you’re ever unsure about an item is to check the Wiki. It won’t explicitly say you can delete it but it will tell you everything you can do with it and then you can decide if you want to hold onto it, sell it, salvage it, delete it or whatever.

They are seriously looking into it, but added more clutter like berries anyway.

Trying to make a list of items which can be deleted would have to involve so many caveats and explanations that it’d be impossible to follow clearly.

The single biggest improvement they can make is to more clearly identify all the items that only have a single use:

  • “This item is only used for a collection” — many such items don’t have that in their description.
  • “This item is only used for one or more renown hearts and can be re-obtained as needed” — none of these items are labeled that way.

Plus there are a few items that are very much needed as part of a collection, but aren’t labeled as such, because they are intermediate parts in a FedEx quest (i.e. one in which you get an item from X, charge it at Y, and deliver it to Z).

That said, my hope is that they start labeling these types of single-use items consistently going forward. Retrofitting old items is always a bit of a pain and might not be worth the time and risk of getting things wrong.

Because of the rule that new level 80 maps need their own keys/currency so participation is required to get the unique items remains in effect.

That and the collectible/wallet expansion project is independent of the Living Story groups. Once it’s done, hopefully those groups will be able to add in those items before the new map is launched.

To bad its only in the storage tho would be nice if it affected personal bank and chars aswell

I definitely agree with a generic “storage expansion” that increases the storage capacity of both materials AND bank.

Those expanders are for sale separately. I like the modular nature. Are you asking them to make an item that expands both or just looking for cheaper storage?

I havent seen any expanders that let you store bettwen 500-2000 in the normal bank slots, have I missed something?

You haven’t. And you aren’t likely to.

The materials storage uses a different mechanic: each slot can only store one type of item, so it’s easy to layer multiple “material storage” tabs one on top of each other (which is why when you ping items from the storage tab, it only ever shows 250 max, despite the true count being greater for hoarders).

In contrast, you can place any item in any bank slot, including items that don’t or can’t stack. To allow banks to store multiple stacks, they’d have to re-invent the inventory system to enable multiple stacks everywhere. I can’t imagine that’s going to be a cost-effective use of dev time.

If over a dozen bank tabs isn’t enough to store everything, it’s time to reconsider what you store.
