Hello,

Does anybody know what will happen to stats like Boon Duration and Virtues Recharge when they remove stats from traits? Are those becoming baseline? I have a Guard build that relies heavily on Boon Duration so I would be out 20-30% if its not made baseline.

Anybody else wondering this stuff?

From https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-one-a-primer/

“We feel that separating build choices from stat decisions provides greater build flexibility, so you’ll no longer gain attribute points through a given line. Where will these stats go? Here’s a quick summary:
Base player stats will be increased from 926 to 1000.
Base attribute points on equipment will be increased so that all the gear in the game will give higher stats than it did before. This should account for most of the missing points.
Each profession’s attributes will be updated to have half of their functionality be part of a specialization and half of their functionality will be a baseline for that profession. For example, elementalists now have a base attunement recharge of 10 seconds, which is reduced to 8.7 seconds when the arcane specialization is equipped.”

So they are balancing the gear to cover the stats that will be lost. But what about those traitlines that give 30% extra condi duration and 30% extra boon duration? There is no armor right now that can give those stats. Will they be just removed from the game?

Personaly, I think that that would be great. Would make it easier to balance the game for spvp and tone down some condi builds and the boon spam in wvw.

There is giver’s stuff.
But honestly, I don’t mind the duration bonus on those missing… Makes it possible to give stronger boosts on runes, traits and sigils.

As of current you gain 30% condi/boon duration from the trait lines if you go 6 deep – how will this be accommodated with the new changes?

These are big part of any of my builds, I tailored an entire ascended armor set for light armor character, all based on boon duration, add to this the prohibitive cost of he 6 runes I use. In total I spent just a little over 1k in gold, not counting the boon duration food that I use…..I’ll be royally screwed over if boon duration get messed up.

Any hints on what will happen to boon duration?

I hope they do not mess with boon and condition duration. Builds that revolve around these are extremely difficult and expensive to set up, and depend on the fact that the trait lines give you exactly 30% extra bonus these stats.

I’d have three or four characters completely ruined…

Also, lets remember, boon duration has already been through the ringer. There is not a single stat in the game that has been nerfed as hard as it was.

My thoughts copy/pasted from a similar thread:

I thought about this too. One thing I pondered were adding onto the lesser-effective gear nomenclature. For instance, you might be able to add on a dab of Boon duration (say 20%) throughout the Nomad armor and an additional 10% for the weapon(s) slot. Put another 15% in the trinkets and 5% on the back. Coupled with some runes and/or food, you can get some high duration.
OR, the way they talked about adding some of the stats back into “gear” that are lost from traits, why not leave the actual gear/weapons alone and add all those extra stats to Runes? Make it so the runes are practically another set of armor you can choose to mix/match for stat gains or specialize for the added extra effects. Rather than just back-loading the stats, smooth out the curve some so the 1/3 bonus is closer to the end bonus. On top of that, make the supplemental bonuses (2/4/6) that tend to add boon duration, condition duration and other effects more profound.

PS: Also, I believe I heard it mentioned that there will be available some sort of ‘refund’ type mechanic for your gear so you won’t have to completely dump your build and start from scratch. I mean, there is an ability to make gear “stat-less” that you can then choose the stats for. Could work like that.

I am wondering and worried for both the +30% condition duration and +30% boon duration.

They made a trait that gives you +20% boon duration when wielding staff… Atm I can trait in virtues and get the +30% boon duration and use any weapon i want

Given how they like to take things out without compensation usually, its probably safe to assume we’re just losing boon duration altogether and will have to get gear or runes with boon duration. Maybe they’ll buff boon duration runes? Either way, as someone who spends most of their time playing guardian and ele, i’m worried about this.

The mentioned changing character baseline stats, gear and traits so that a combination of the 3 would make up for the difference. How that will work out in practice…. we’ll just have to wait and see.

well to be honest i’d love to see condi duration go extinct as condi builds were waaaay too OP in 1 vs 1 scenarios. Boon duration though always felt too weak to me and if anything should have been buffed. condis lasted way too long for how easy they are to reapply, and boons were way too short considering the long cooldowns on boon applying skills. hopefully they balance that out.

Profession mechanic cooldown reduction is receiving the first 15% as baseline and the other 15% as part of one of the minor traits of the respective traitline.

So specifically speaking for guardian, your virtues will now come packed with a 15% shorter cooldown by default, and you’ll gain another 15% if you take the virtues spec.

does that mean that all classes come with % stats from traits already packed, and then trait mastery will had the rest?

No. Just your profession mechanic cooldown. So for guardian, your virtues (F1, F2, F3) will default to having 15% shorter cooldowns each. Likewise for elementalists, their attunement recharge will be slightly shorter, thief’s steal will be on a lower cooldown, etc. It doesn’t actually affect any stats at all.
