…they may be hacked!

I was talking to some one privately (whispers) in the role play server known as tarnished coast and he and I found out that our private conversation was posted on sites like 4-chan without our knowledge and another individual was telling me that this guy I talked to did it on purpose and not that he was hacked. I deduced and he deduced that he or I was being phished and he wasn’t at fault or even trying to wrong me. I believed this guy to be a victim as was I. My machine is infact clean (scanned fully and I use the best antivirus/security software on the market) but his may be not.

I know that I shouldn’t have talked in ways that could be used against me, but how does one know the other person can be trusted or even be free of malware. Shall we cease to talk or play gw 2 with anyone seeing that we are all at risk?

The other dude posted it. No one who goes through the trouble of getting a keylogger on your machine is going to post your weird ERP fantasies on 4-chan.

Posting of ERP chat logs is a long established Internet tradition.

Some of the most hilarious drama I’ve read has been from posting of ERP logs involving EQ raid guilds.

Guess I’m out of the loop huh? As long as it doesn’t bite us all in the kitten by the non RP servers refusing to join our parties for everything from wvw to fractals.

This is exactly what happened. 100% certainty. You should really be more worried about what kind of crappy “friend” you were with who would post your log publicly for ridicule, and then disrespect your intelligence with such a shoddy and transparent lie.

You know a lot of people’s first response to this thread will be to find the thread on 4chan, right? If there’s something on the internet that you want to keep under wraps, do not create another thread talking about it.

Anyway, it seems a passerby had earlier posted some random, awkward screenshots of your character, in which your name was visible. I guess it inspired someone to hit you up in chat. Shrug it off and move on, don’t be self-conscious about it. It’s 4chan shenanigans, nobody really cares and we’ve all seen worse.

Safest bet is to always assume anything you do on the net can show up on the net. Forever.
Years ago I posted a small pic of myself on SWG Faces. Standard business card face shot. Five years later it resurfaces as a photo shop of me and what appeared to be a football team.. on a pool table.

Tarnished Coast is the inofficial NA RP server and they seem pretty successful with that claim.
