Ok i messed up.i was invited to a guild and went to check them out,all fine so far.
Then i decided to leave and went to my guild account list and clicked on it and left, still fine so far!
Nope, i had just clicked on and left my personal guild with three years stuff in.
totally my fault but not helped by from the new guild account window that lists guilds you are in a millimeter apart.
I put a ticket in but Anet cannot get my guild or stuff back, so that sucks.
I accept my fault in this but just be very very careful is all i can advise.
i feel stupid and really really sick lol, dozy twonk that i am.
Thanks to gmrinku for his help.

edit lol said becareful, spelling mistake in title.

:(

That sux. Before I got my alt accounts I was really paranoid about that.

What I’ve recommended that people do is get a free to play account and make it a co-leader with inviting and promoting permissions. That way if they accidently leave their personal guild they can use the f2p account to invite themselves back and promote back to guild leader.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

THe button to leave a guild is actually way below your guild list.
You dont leave your own guild, if you just click the small check box left of the guild names.
The check boxes just activate and deactivate representation.

Very easy to do.

I went to leave a guild and (just like you) the question about leaving came up with my own guild name, rather than the one I was currently repping and trying to leave.

Fortunately, I noticed, but it is a bad design.

Also, I can’t understand why they can’t get it back for you, if no one else is in it (so, there is no confusion about ownership).

Really, Anet?

If you’ve got someone trustworthy invite them into your guild but don’t give them guild storage permissions. If you then leave by accident, they get auto promoted and can invite you back. You can also do the same for them in return as a double failsafe

You know, the game is free to play now. Anyone with a personal guild really should take the time to register a second account and add them to the guild for safety. Save the login info somewhere safe, and you will always be able to recover if you should find yourself in such a situation, because as the OP mentioned, support can’t/won’t help you.

I just checked. It really IS dangerous.

Example:
You are in Guild A and represent Guild A.
You want to leave Guild X.
You open the guild panel, you click the Guild X checkbox and the “Leave Guild” button afterwards.
The game will now ask you if you want to leave Guild A.

Of course this happens because you did not actually select Guild X, you just clicked its representation checkbox.
Anet could easily fix this by auto-selecting a guild if you click its checkbox.
