Dredge are the most annoying enemies in the game, hands down. They meet literally every requirement of an annoying enemy – common, attack in large numbers, high health, high damage, crowd control, protective boons to make them even more durable, mini-bosses disguised as regular foes that spawn other Dredge, annoying sound effects on par with Beevis’s laugh, immune to blind, etc. etc.

So you can imagine my satisfaction when I was exploring Gendarren Fields and found a shovel to beat Dredge to death with. Finally, the rat kittens get what they deserve, right!

But this experience should be available to everyone!

As such, I propose a game called Dredge Beating, where you and five other players are trapped in Dredge territory with nothing but a shovel and your heal/utilities/elite. Work together to beat the kitten out of the Dredge for glory, honor, and for the Hell of it!

As a reward for exceptional performance, you can get a special Hammer Skin called the Dredge Beater, which is a shovel with a Dredge’s face print on it.

I know you’re joking but you have a point. The only enemies more annoying than Orrian Risen are Dredge. If the Underground Facility Fractal was full of anything but Dredge it wouldn’t be hated the way it is now.

I wasn’t joking. I would pay money to wield a Dredge Beater.

I like how beating them with a shovel or throwing a rock at them does more damage than your greatsword, fireball or earthquake…I mean rly?

I love killing Dredge and the Dredge themselves. Their mining suits are annoying but I find the rest of the Dredge enjoyable. I would still love the Dredge Beating but they have introduced any of the activites they said they were going to after launch.

You can always go to the mine in the charr area (Diessa Plateau I believe) and play whack-a-mole with the big hammer he gives you (yes I’m serious, and yes it is as gratifying as you might imagine). Knocking the dogkitten out of those rat faced dirt munchers never gets old.

I was going to post this. That is an enjoyable heart.

The only thing I find disappointing about beating Dredge to death with a shovel is that the kitten thing is so likely to break. It’s a good thing our weapons aren’t that shoddily-crafted. In fact, a LOT of the environmental weapons break after a hit or two, and they aren’t even that good!

I just wish I could always keep a shovel handy so I could beat things--and people--to death. It’d be great in real life, too.

There’s a few enviro weapons that don’t break, one is a pickaxe you get right inside (Dredgehaunt?? can’t remember the zone now lol, I’ll edit it in later), or I’m sure there’s an NPC that sells a shovel bundle item, go buy yourself about 2 dozen of them and go on a dredge assault spree hehe

I like the Dredge ever since the time I found a lone Excavator singing to himself about mining….while mining.

A frying pan with a Dredge’s face on it could be the Mace skin.

You mean the dredge haven’t already been beaten in the face with a shovel? Why do they look like that, then?

Dredge are easy to kill though.

Have you ever tried fighting Dredge as a Thief? They are immune to blind…. you know…. your primary defense mechanism. Against Dredge, Thieves are only as durable as their traits and gear allow them to be.

Nah have not been a thief before was thinking about it but i might try ele next.

I would love nothing more than to have yet another excuse to brutally murder the Dredge and push them further to extinction.

You know that in the Bloodcliff Quarry you can play Whack-a-dredge with a “Mole Whacker” weapon? :p

boon rips and conditions are the way to go for dredge, just to throw that in there for those who say they’re too hard ;-)

I’ve never had a problem with the Dredge. Mining Suits can be annoying yes but just focus on it alone and then when it goes down any mob it spawned will despawn. Risen Purifiers and Graveling Scavengers on the other hand……. now give me the shovel as heads need to be beaten in!
