We have a decent sized guild at 248 members. We have just enough influence to be able to queue guild treks when our economy level 6 is done. However, we keep losing members to guilds that already have other types of missions unlocked. We run bounties at least twice a week right now, but these other guilds are hostile towards us when we try to claim our bounties.

We have only had 1 player ever leave our guild before guild missions existed. Now we seem to have at least 1 per day. Those who respond to me when i ask why say they have joined a larger guild on our server that run these missions at least once a day.

Was this Anet’s intention? Our ability to unlock further missions relies on our active members. However, those members are the ones leaving to join larger guilds. I doubt we will lose more than 10% at any point, but this is still a knife in the heart.

The biggest problem with guild bounty, when there are multiple guilds hunting at the same time. The smaller guild that engage the boss first usually get shafted, the bigger guilds just stand there and looking at you rather than helping out. When there are a lot of people around the mob, it gets way harder. A small guild with 5-6 people can’t kill it if it scale up to 30-40 people difficulty. Also most people don’t understand, you can only get reward once a week per tier per account anyway so even if a guild does it everyday it won’t get you your stuff faster.

I am in a two person father/daughter guild so we understood 100% the limitations we had. That said, worked out really well for us with various access to our guild bank and various bonuses.

What I hate about the new guild stuff is two things..

1. The amount of spam in /map with guild bashing, spamming for larger guilds and just anti smaller guild stuff is now sad.

2. Very viable guilds of say 25-40 people really suffer now. Due to examples like Riaky said, it just makes it really hard for them. I don’t understand how Anet catered to the huge “uber” guilds with this update.

Guild missions is a pathetic excuse for new content. The bounty mobs aren’t fun to kill, more often than not they just stir up trouble amongst guilds and completely singles out small guilds. They should have started with guild treks TBH. At least there’ll be no quarrels over that. That said, I don’t expect much from Arenanet these days, they just make one bad decision after another.

Wow, which server are you guys in? Sounds like a server filled with hostility. In JQ, if there are multiple guilds looking for bounties, we usually share all the bounty location so we could start ASAP.

This ^ terrible implementation..

One reward a week has pretty much killed this content for our guild, sure we do it for those who are on once a week…

But as new content goes this was a waste of coding, why would i try to get a hundred players to coordinate such a painful experience against opposing guilds trying to do the same for no reward… great job

Yeah guild missions, especially bounty is a bit kitten backwards.

It doesnt matter if you do T3 or T1, you can still only get 2 commendations total from Bounties per week. Only difference is the amount of guild merits you can get. 15, 20 or 25 per week depending which tier is your highest before reset.

I dont understand why its so limited and still so unfriendly towards small guilds. It’s not like it takes any effort for a big guild to get one T1 kill per week, so I dont know why its gated like it is.

T1 bounty should be designed for small guilds so its members can get commendations. Merits is ok at 15, but its not OK to gate the content so memebers suffer for being ina small guild.

I’m in a fairly large guild myself and we did T3 today with no bigger problem. But now that thats done, there is nothing else guild mission oriented to do until reset since trek or the others arent unlocked yet.

It seems like a very odd system.

Hope they make it more viable for smaller guilds, alot more viable.

Except all the war that gets done is verbal abuse. If they threw in guild bounties in WvW, that’d be funny.

Today we invited a smaller, friendly guild to join us in our guild bounty. The members of that guild joined our guild, repped for the duration of the event, and they got their rewards. They were really happy. Thanks us several times for including them. Then they went back to their guild.

I’d encourage other medium-large guilds to seek out smaller guilds. You get more people to do your bounties, the other team gets rewards and everyone goes home a winner.

This is really good. Good example here set by a medium/large guild. You guys have the capability to be charitable and doing so really makes you feel generous and happy. You may not gain anything from doing this but it’s a really charitable cause and it also helps promote a good image for your guild. I’ve seen guilds doing this on JQ too. Give yourself a good pat on the back, you deserved it

Your guild should be a community, not just a path to loot. If you attract people that don’t care about the other members, what do you expect :p

This. If your members are leaving just because they want to participate in guild missions (which itself is really boring) to get the commendation (why else would they want), then they are probably not the kind of members you want in your guild. Good way to clean up the guild I’ll say.

Because you’re not a selfish guild member only interested in what you get out of it? I mean, clearly you are; but in general, one helps out guild members because they’re not selfish.
