Been gone awhile
Bunker builds have been hit around the board. Ele’s still haven’t had anything done to give them more builds, except of course trying to kill their bunker build. Engineers have had a few usability problems fixed, but the devs have refused to take the obvious solutions to some of their larger problems. Mesmer’s and thieves are made more or less frustrating every other patch. Necro’s are mostly unchanged. Guardians are mostly unchanged, at least since their bunker build was last hit. Warriors and rangers were just given some pretty big changes this last patch.
There have been a lot of bug fixes, you’ll much less frequently find a bugged event now than you would have back when you last played. But there are still a few here and there.
The Meta Events have become a huge deal, and many people cycle through to hit as many of them as they can each day, because they have been given a daily bonus chest and better drop rates.
There has been a new level 80 area added, Southsun Cove, but it’s possibly the worst area in the game, or any game… ever.
The dungeons haven’t really changed much, people were speed-running Ascalonian Catacombs to farm, they reworked AC to kill the speed-running. Now people speed-run Citadel of Flame, and they’ll probably hit it soon too.
If you’re in a guild, a lot of new content has been added. Mainly in Guild Missions, special missions your guild can undertake to increase their influence and get tokens used to buy items and gear from a guild vendor.
Dailies and monthlies have been revamped to be a little more friendly. But they require different things every day, so they’re better some days and worse on others.

Thanks for the great response man! Answered pretty much every question I had! Glad to hear about events being fixed, those were quite rough. Really sad to hear that the ele has actually become LESS versatile.
It sounds like overall the game has gotten a bit better than it already was though? Has anything in WvW changed?

Yeah, they’ve added a lot to WvW. There is now a progression system that allows you to gain abilities based on your playstyle, for example, if you take out a lot of guards, you are going to earn points towards abilities that help you fight guards better. Culling has also been removed and replaced with a scale that allows you to scale up or down the quality of friendly and enemy units that appear on the map, so as to help with performance. Orbs have also been removed, and most recently they’ve started to add point gains to little things like killing dolyaks.
EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot two big things. They added a new dungeon to LA called Fracatls of the Mists, a dungeon that throws a bunch of random ‘fractal’ events at you, and scales up difficulty the more times you complete it. With this dungeon they also added a new top gear tier, ascended gear, which they’ve been slowly adding over the last few months. The best way to get this gear is Fractals, guild missions, and by completing your dailies and monthlies.
