Been out for a while, any changes?

Well.. Let me ask more specifically. From a PLAYER standpoint, was there anything added that is worth coming back to?
That does depend on the player.
The easiest way is to simply read the release notes and see if something is of interest to you.

Don’t rely on the patch notes .. they don’t even list half of the changes they do in there!
And people, he is asking about your opinion, so if you have one give him instead of saying that “it depends on the player” :o
(this kind of sentences are just as uselss as saying “this is just your opinion” in a debate zomg)

If you’d come back you would quit again in a week for the same reasons you quit first time.
Kyosji,
Hm…unlikely. If the game didn’t have longevity for you before, I don’t think it will now. They’ve tinkered around the edges, but most of the major issues still remain. (Culling in WvW was fixed—if you have a computer that can take advantage of that.)
I’d still recommend downloading and playing for a couple hours to make sure. It is free.
Personally, I’ve done most of what this game has to offer and now I’m waiting to see if an expansion will be significantly better. I won’t be buying it right away, nor will I trust immediate reviews—since those failed me for this game.

It’s a beautiful game, I admit. The seasonal events are great to. The only issue I had with this game it it truly had a hard cap at the end. Your story ended, so there was really nothing after that but to grind for a legendary or PvP. PvP is great, but you are so limited in your skills and abilities that most things become predictable. You know what someone is going to do because they are stuck using the same skills as anyone else.
I’ll come back just to see what’s going on and to see if my guild still plays (Since Rift became free, I think they moved on), but I would really like to see at least new weapons in the game with more random of properties. It’s very discouraging to play against people that have the same exact weapon as you.
I came from games like Dark Age of Camelot that had more of a variety of weapons. They had some stupid, almost generated names, but they were more unique. This game reminds me a lot of Dark Age, but it lacks the luster when it comes to equipment. Pretty much at the end game, everyone has the same equipment.
Depends of what kind of player you are.
If you are into WvW, there has been the end of culling in WvW and the add of world XP allowing you to increase your WvW level and gain some bonus in WvW such as increased damage against guards or additional dmg with X siege weapon. You also get a reward chest everytime you gain a wvw level with a (very rare) chance to get exotic including precursor.
But globally WvW is still the same in concept.
If you are into sPvP, there hasn’t been many ground-breaking changes since January. Custom arenas have been added, where the owner can choose different features such as which map will be played, the respawn time/options, match lengths, team sizes etc…
There is also the new spectator mode which is, er… a spectator mode ^^. Balance side, it’s relatively correct with most OP builds being nerfed, sure there’s still some place for improvements but it has been (far) worse. The meta is still the same however and I don’t see it changing before they add new game modes.
If you are into PvE, there have been the addition of living stories which is temporary content so I’m sorry to tell you you have missed it for good. There is also the guild missions, you can find a good review of them on dulfy’s : http://dulfy.net/2013/02/26/gw2-guild-missions-guide/. They include various objectives and reward players with commendations you can trade for weapons and ascended jewelry.
Dailies have been added and they now reward players with laurels you can trade for various items including ascended jewelry.
Most world boss now gives a daily chest containing a gold item.
If you’re looking for permanent content, I’m afraid you will be disapointed apart maybe from the guild missions.
EDIT : Oh I forgot, they have added a couple of new items (mainly backpacks and weapons) you can only get in RNG boxes with incredibly low chance to get the item you want. It’s being discussed (I should have written critisized) everywhere in the forums so you can’t miss it.

Thanks Minos.
Yes, it has a great art direction, but the core of the game is lacking depth and variety. I think their only opportunity to change that will be an expansion.
But right now they’re making bank on suckers who think RNG boxes are worth spending lots of $$$, and the people who buy them are unlikely to be interested in the kind of changes you are looking for. I have come to expect future updates to be based on weapon skins hidden in gambling boxes.

In terms of the meta events(dragons, etc..bosses with chest loot), you’ll find tons and tons of people doing these. So much that you might be thrown into overflow.
In terms of regular DE events, such as events in Orr…I think people are spreading out a bit more now with Southsun being viable, and the monthly events just take people of the previously populated zones and sticking them in ONE. For Flame and Frost, most people hung out in Wayferer and Diessa. For the southsun, people hung out in Southsun and Orr was a ghost town. Now with southsun events staying with OK farming, and the dragon event happening in Lion’s Arch, Orr is still empty.
It seems every monthly event takes people out of all zones and sticks them into one.

Its not worth coming back. Take up a new hobby and/or video game. Honestly, if the game didn’t keep you the first time, it’s not going to keep you for long now. It hasn’t gotten much better. There isn’t much new content.

Id have to agree. I came back, enjoyed it for a few weeks but then realized the new direction of the game: RNG gating toward cash shop.
I first left the game for two reasons: Ascended gear grind just became…annoying because it has no place in this game. Also, I likened Guild Missions to raids, scheduling my RL time around a video game to make sure I am online to see this content with my guild. No sir, I’ll go to WoW for that.
I am breaking from the game now, sort of, because of RNG/Cash shop grabs. If you want a skin, you have .0000000001% chance of getting it from an RNG coffer/crate. Otherwise, buy it from the cash shop! Find a good T6 materials farm? It’ll get nerfed because, hey, we want you to buy gems from the shop to convert to gold to buy off AH.
Summation:
-Scheduling RL time around a video game is a no no for me these days
-Ascended gear/treadmill has no place in this game
-RNG
-Gating us toward the cash shop at every angle. (Ive noticed this more and more over the last two months).
