I’d like to make a character with a beer belly. Would it be possible if ANET can implement in the character creation options or some kind of gem store thing?

How, when you’re constantly running around swinging weapons? (This is light-hearted, as some don’t understand)

Some of the Asuran models have a belly on them, they’re rather tubby. Be a beer swilling Asura who was raised by Norns.

Well, less perfect body types would be something. I should be a short balding fat guy if needed.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

If skinny characters can run around swinging weapons almost the same height as they are a character with a gut can as well, if not even easier thanks to the extra weight.

+ Small rat like creatures, women and men with hardly any muscle mass, plant humanoids with very fragile skinny frames, and cat people who are smarter than humans.

Yup, a beer belly would just be TOO MUCH!

There is already some options for it anyway. Asura have the body types, so do Norn, and Charr do to a certain degree.

If anorexic women with huge breast implants can do it, and teeny tiny asura can do it, then so can fat people.

+1 to this thread. I want more big bodies!

My question was more directed at the fact, your character is exercising so much that any form of a beer belly is pretty unlikely.

Have you ever seen NFL offensive and defensive line players? They are some of the biggest guys in sports. They are very mobile, very active and exercise often. This is one guy who happens to be on the team that just won the Super Bowl. It is his second.

I mention something to that effect just today

Sylvari and Human seem to be the odd ones out when it comes to more-chubbier body shapes, so I support the idea as a matter of consistency.

I do think the norn tend to have much more stocky builds than the humans do, if that’s what you’re getting at, but they still have flatter stomachs than you’re probably looking for. Just out of curiosity, are you looking for thicker men, women or both? I highly doubt you’ll find a “fat” woman, but you might find a thicker man. Also, just because I’ve seen threads about clipping, be prepared for this to be a problem with the chest armors, depending on how much of a slider the stomach has.

I mean, less idealized body types would probably just be a good thing in general, especially where female body image is concerned (this coming from a socially moderate male).

GW2 still has some okay variation. I mean, all human females are skinny, but you can still choose between athletic (Muscular, small breast), more curvy with bigger breast and anything between those, which is more than a lot of games offer.

I suspect the reason you don’t see drastically different body types is because if you want equipment to look good, you can’t simply scale it up or down. The games that do allow that tend to have clipping issues or look like the clothing was clearly designed for one body type.

True. Options is always nice. Every gender and race more options!

However, I wager the most popular body type for females of humanoid races would still be the ‘super-sexy’ body types, with the odd person going for less ideal figures.

I would bet a figure with a beer belly would have clipping issues. Just as there are already clipping issues with some Charr faces protruding through helms.
