Before I buy expansion
This game is not for you.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
So whey shouldn’t to advertise play the way you like. With other maps I don’t have issues at all because I found way how to play.
Dry Top map it self is nice, but idea to explore is not practical at all. Why these people can’t make exploring map without using some silly buffs where you have to press button. If you want to use weapon skill so you jump. If you want attack so you jump or something else. Where no logic at all.
Until they made Dry Top it was game for me where I loved GW 2 Lore. I see that this game becoming more for smaller and smaller community.
And you are right. This game is just for small community.
If 1 single map is enough for you to despise a game, then I think you need to find another hobby, gaming isn’t for you.

Mate. I think all expansion will be similar to Dry Top. Did you see trailer? You can fly but temporary using skills. It will be all expansion where you need use temporary skills to reach point.
I remember I was like the OP, hated Dry Top. Overall it’s a good map, but somewhat poorly scaled. Too many terrain abnormalities packed into such a small area I think. Makes them a bit more difficult to navigate and orient yourself to, but I think most players get the hang of it eventually.
I do hope the expansion’s maps aren’t all complex as well. Visually interesting for sure, but easy to get around.
I really like Dry Top. (But, I also really like the Cliffs, Sanctum Sprint, etc.)
If using the Zephyrite Skills are that big of a problem for you, you might want to hold off on pre-ordering the expansion until we have more details on how the three layers of the jungle, gliding, etc. will work. Of course, considering they haven’t announced a price or release date yet, worrying about it might be a little premature.
Judging from your complaints, I can’t help but wonder if maybe your gripes about the game run deeper than the (relatively small, relatively easy) Zephyrite skill challenges to navigate around Dry Top. (There are some harder parts, but just to get around the zone…)
How do we know that Maguuma is the only area. The Crystal Desert is just beyond. We won’t know till closer to release. Looking for further information to be released.
Why these people can’t make exploring map without using some silly buffs where you have to press button.
I don’t know Robot, why are any maps based on pressing silly buttons? It’s beyond me
I just don’t get it, Devs are so lame.
P.S: No pun intended Anet.
Dry Top was fine – not awesome (FGS,) not horrible (Orr,SS.) Of the 3 maps added in the last 2.5 years, Silverwastes is definitely the best in terms of fun factor.

I love how every single time something is added to the game, people trot out the phrase “play how you want”. The game is play how you want, because you’re not forced to go into that zone, not that the zone shouldn’t exist.
If you don’t like PvP, but it’s there, you can play how you want by not going into PvP. Of course things are going to be put into a game you don’t like, because nobody likes everything.
If you avoid that zone, you’d be playing how you like right?
It’s a bit self-centered to think that every piece of content in the game is something you’d automatically like…even if you liked everything before.
Though there are probably plenty of jumping puzzles in the game you don’t like.
Zephyrite Skills is worst than problem, is just very annoying. If you need to run from one point to another. When you want to attack mob so you need press again to dismiss Zephyrite Skills or wait for 5 sec or more. So again you have to press more time than usually in another map. So is that makes more challenge or interested? Lets make all map Similar to Zephyrite Skills. It will be very deep and well crafted game.
Another funny thing with merchant Dry Top. More mobs you kill so you will temporary unlock better items in merchant. In other way, in that map merchants have short memory about you great job in this map.
Probably I will watch game-play when this expansion will come. I don’t want to throw money into nothing. I want to see where game is going, because at the moment game game is going in not really good direction and especially with exploration.

I agree that thing you will like and you don’t like in game but you can skip. But where is thing when you are annoying more than you don’t like. If you want to see Season 2 lore, so you have to pass this map. I think this is worst part in game for me that map.
And think if exploring whole expansion map will have similar mechanic as Dry Top so you don’t have anything else that do in this game apart from PvP which is not my style.
yea becouse all there will be in the game when expasion hits is the new maps wvw and spvp the rest of the game go poof you wont be able to play it /sarcasm off
Once you get the other waypoints in Dry Top, which you only have to do once, you have to do very very very little jumping to get around the entire zone. I"d be happy to help you get them if you like.
I just hope that whoever developed the expansion aint the same ones who came up with those so-called “improvements” to the game in 2014.
This game is not for you.
I wouldn’t say that. But clearly OP is carrying a grudge, and is looking toward the forum community to reinforce his believes. Also using this supposed question as a means of complaining.

Well it’s not exactly as close as you think.

While I am a huge fan of the game and I was pretty happy with what I saw in the presentation, I share some concern about the travel. I too absolutely hate the process of getting around in Dry Top. No problem until now since I just avoid the place other than the small bit I needed to do to get the LS done. My only concern…and I am hoping that it is a groundless one…is that all travel in the expansion areas will be similar to this – not necessarily identical but this kind of “gimmicky” getting around. Once in a while is not bad…but constantly having to use these kinds of “special skills” just to get from point A to point B is not something I enjoy…although I do understand that a lot of players do.
So, at this point, I am just kind of watching and waiting. Hopefully, it will all be balanced pretty well so we all have a good time.

Maguuma is <— way. Crystal desert is —-————————————————————————————→ way. Just sayin’.

Yes, but what happens if it’s like in GW1 where one moment we’re in Kryta and the next we’re on a boat going to the desert because some creepy necromancer (who is totally not a villain) tells us we have to.
Expect more of that. However, I think the masteries will ease the people who don’t like it that much or aren’t that good at it. The gliders won’t let you die every time you fall and there will probably be other movement masteries to traverse the verticality and the maps.
Bring back: ‘Gamer’ title + MAT’s!
Throw out: Hotjoin!
I been in all maps. But Dry Top is worst map ever I saw in in Guild Wars X and others mmo games. You forcing players all the time do jumping puzzles (in other way jump and jump, use some stupid temporary skills and so on). Is good this map for players who like jumping all the time. Dry Top is not who can play your way, because where no way.

Funny how that works.

YES. That’s the awesome part! I love me 3D maps, and honestly there’s plenty games if you don’t enjoy jumping or vertical movement, so why not play one of those MMOs instead?
Hardly a bad thing if different games cater to different players.
Dry Top and Silverwastes both have a lot of levels. I’ll be honest — I prefer Silverwastes. In order to get around to all the events I can use normal skills I’d use in other maps. If I want to get up above the action, that’s where the jumping part comes in. I prefer that, since frankly a little of the Zephyrite skillset goes a long way with me. But in the Silverwastes the jumping puzzle content is entirely optional and actually a lot of fun if you don’t mind heights. Or falling. Or going splat at the bottom of the zone.
It looks from the trailer as if the new zone will have separate levels that are accessible and presumably we’ll be able to learn the skills to get between them. I’ll wait to check it out before deciding whether or not I like it. But that hang glider (skill?) looks pretty fun. I’m hoping I’ll get the hang of it (pun only sorta intended). Who knows, maybe they’ll take pity on players like me and put a few more waypoints in than Silverwastes has. I know that I use them in Dry Top probably more than anywhere else except cities.
Main? What “main”? I play all of them sooner or later.
Play how you want doesn’t things that you are not good at or don’t like are non-existent.
Dry top is a particularly unique area. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad or simular things shouldn’t be done. You either learn it and over come it or don’t play.
