Begging for goldseller mass ban!
Stop making duplicate posts (this goes for EVERYONE else complaining too). Block them, report them (for scamming, spamming, botting, and gold selling), and be done with it. Anet works as fast as they can to ban accounts, but when people are blithering idiots regarding account security, a lot of those accounts spamming the messages are stolen accounts. If people secured all of their accounts better, none of this would be as much of an issue.
We need The Return of Dhuum.

I blocked about 15 gold spammers today. 14 of those had 7 achievement points. Only 1 had about 3000 and was most likely a hacked account. The other 14 were clearly newly created accounts. So, those “blithering idiots” as you so nicely call them, were not the ones that were banned today (they were all offline when I logged off, except that hacked account one…)
I agree it’s annoying. Extra annoying: yesterday I was working on my daily when I noticed I had a pile of whispers. Checked, and it was a flickering message done by rapidly repeat sending with a tiny change in the text, completely scrolling my chat. For once I blocked and then reported instead of the other way around.
While I usually hate the chat suppression’s oversensitivity, it seems to have been hacked somehow to allow such rapid fire messages from one sender.
They should implement a sort of player moderator system similar to what Runescape has.
Give a small number of players chosen by Anet the ability to instantly mute other players temporarily and have their reports viewed with priority.

As much as I think it’s inconvenient. Trust me when I say that most of these accounts were stolen. You will end up banning innocent players, because of some greedy people from China. XD
I’m not sure if there’s any simple solution at all. You can always just block bots, it’s not like they are actually following you, making it hard for you to play.

The bolded section cannot be stressed enough. Protect your accounts people.

It’s harder than it sounds, considering that there are entire industries based off of getting through account protection.
I would hesitate to confuse inaction with inadequate action. I don’t know how it is with Anet, but I’ve never seen an MMO that doesn’t ban gold sellers. The problem is, gold sellers reproduce faster than they can be banned.

Actually, it’s the opposite – Anet has been taking constant action against the botters and goldsellers, forcing them to increase their efforts and to access accounts that were hacked months ago but left alone until they needed new shills to use.
So, the current situation is a direct result of mass bans. If Anet did nothing, there wouldn’t be so many accounts being stolen because the goldsellers would just be using the accounts they already had been using. Because those accounts no longer exist, they need new ones to use.

That part annoys me to no end…..
PvP modes are the “endgame” in every MMO.
Stop failing at PvE, start fixing PvP/WvW. Thank you.
I think the problem is rather not so much inaction but no visible action. ANet doesn’t provide us much feedback in regards to what they are doing regarding goldsellers

They don’t need to. Do the police keep you updated on how many parking tickets they gave out this week?
They also don’t allow the topic to be discussed in the forums, so once the mods get hold of this thread it will be closed or deleted.

but prices are so low atm.
E.A.D.
Those gold spammers are all people who used the same email and password on a gold seller’s site as they use for the game. They wouldn’t be banning the gold spammers, they’d just be banning a bunch of players and the gold sellers just move on to the next batch of farmed account data. Doesn’t solve anything. This will never be fixed, and you’ll never get rid of gold sellers. Profiteering just part of humanity.
As other have already pointed out, Anet is doing something has has always been doing something. Why do you think you never see the gold sellers use the same account twice? They’re not shelling out $30~60 (or stealing accounts) just to continue spamming people who blocked them and will never buy gold from them.
The frequency really has kicked up ever since the megaservers went live though. Very annoying.
Why not just do a stealth patch that auto blocks every single whisper that includes PvP bank, and don’t notify the person telling the whisper that he got blocked
What if they block a certain string of letters? Would the Gold-sellers not just place another string of letters that would re-direct to their site of choice? Another block, another string…ad nauseam.
Even if they were not notified it was blocked, they would likely find out quite soon.
The current method they are using is just censoring the forums and hoping enough people report to reach the auto suspend limit, saying job well done.
In reality if they set up an auto suspend filter that works similar to how an antivirus works since it’s a bot that doesn’t cater each message differently. You start with discrete variables such as the website plus xgold, stuff the normal public doesn’t say on a normal basis. Sure the seller through trial and error would obfuscate the selected variable through means such as using (dot) com instead of .com or 3 instead of an e. Through normal user reporting the new alt message would be then added to the list. This process would continue until A. The message becomes so obscure that the normal user just thinks it’s symbol spam or b. all alt forms of said website is on the list forcing a domain name change just to start the process anew
Hi,
While we understand your concern, the forum is not the place for such issues to be discussed.
If you witness any of Gold Selling while playing, please report them using the in-game ticketing system so our Customer Support team can properly investigate the issue.
Thank you for your understanding.
