I have read quite a few forums about people wanting to be able to either trade in/salvage or sell ascended gear they get as drops. This is primarily concerning fractal rings, but even a lot of ascended armor/weapons that drop from chests tend to have stat combinations that are essentially useless for most builds. There is a lot of player input into this topic but, I have yet to find any actual input from the developers. I was wondering if anyone has read or heard anything from the developers themselves?

Concerning the topic:
I honestly don’t care what they choose to do with ascended gear as long as it’s something. Whether they salvage for ecto/dark matter, let us give to friends, adjust vendor price to a gold or let us trade rings we don’t want in for fractal skins (1 skin for 20 rings or something like that). I just don’t see the point in having the “best” item in game be useless to simply rot away in a bank. When a rare is a lot more sought after then ascended once you have your 2 rings that shows that something needs to be changed.

Concerning people that don’t have a stockpile of rings and feel making them salvageable/sell-able is unfair get your fractal reward level to 30+ and you will have plenty.

Worries concerning the economy and ring drops being “very high”. Yes I agree ascended rings drop quite a lot from fractals, but in a fractal run (3 normal and 1 boss) I usually get 5+ rares and sometimes an exotic or 2. That being said i only get an ascended ring 1/3 times on average from the end reward chest. By this standard yes ascended rings drop quite a bit, but rares and exotics drop far more, so ascended should at least hold the value of a rare or exotic. The only way I see they might upset the market is if they suddenly decided to make them trade-able on the black lion.

I’m not looking for some vast fortune for the rings I have stored, I simply don’t want to vendor them for 5 silver. If anyone has any news from the developers or something in the patches i missed on this topic. I would love to hear it. I’ll welcome useful comments or suggestions also! Just please don’t argue for the sake of arguing. Thank you!
