It doesn’t make any sense to me why if I delete all of my characters, I’m not able to freely switch home worlds. I still have the cooldown and now I’m stuck on a home world I tried and didn’t like. If I delete all of my characters, I should be able to pick a new home world to create new characters on freely.

I just came back to the game and I wasn’t sure where I wanted to play, but now I’m stuck on this home world I don’t want to be on, and I have to wait to pick a new one. So now I don’t even know if I should bother. I want to find a home that suits me, but I’m restricted even if I want to start over new somewhere else and have no high level characters at all. Seriously, this doesn’t make any sense to me.

They did it to prevent WvW player from abusing the system to spy on other servers. As a PvE player, it’s only annoying

Guesting is free. Why don’t you guest until you find the homeworld you want stay on and then move saving you all this headache.

This is to stop opposing servers in WvW from having too many spies. A person could keep 2 accounts, one they play on and another they spy on. If the spy account can just keep deleting char and moving they could easily spy on both servers at any time depending on who was winning that week. And they could also use this to move to other new servers if the matchup changed.

how would that even work? If one account keeps deleting chars and transferring without a cooldown to “spy” on wvw, the main account still has to pay to transfer (assuming it also has no cd even though it still has chars).

Edit: I see what you mean now. Spying is just to obtain info, not to transfer to another server. Even then, who would go through all the trouble just to know which borderland is safe to go to?

that’s the problem. When you transfer then delete, you can’t transfer again until another 6 days.

I won’t be able to progress a character because I will either have to eventually delete it or pay money to transfer it, so I’m not able to play for a possible period of 6 days. That is pretty much where I’m at now. I don’t see the point in making a new character when I have all these restrictions and even if I do guest I’m not going to be able to fully pick a server I want to play on in possibly 6 days from now. At this point I don’t even know if I want to play at all if I have to jump through all these hoops just to be able to pick a server to call home.

If you delete all your toons you can transfer once a week for free, not hard to understand.

Lol, tons of people spy with a second account everyday. There are a lot of people that would do this.

You have been given numerous options and refuse to use them. Seems simple to me, I guess if I wanted to play 6 days to wait would not be that big of a deal. People had like 4 months to find the server they wanted before paid transfers went into effect.

It’s called research, I did it and only had to transfer once to get the server that was perfect for me. You are making this soooooo much more complicated than it needs to be.

Because, there are ample warning pop ups that alert you to the fact that once you pick your server, it will be your homeworld permanently and cannot change unless you do a paid character transfer. The “free transfers” are long gone since months ago, which were beyond extended in the first place (should have ended in the first month). And they’ll only ever open up free transfers for top-tier, high pop servers to go to low pop servers.

Seems like OP’s main problem has been an ongoing refusal to do research beforehand.

firstly, in researching how transfers are limited, and secondly, in researching which server to first transfer too.

I quit the game before because I had to wait another week to be able to play again. And I just said forget it and went to play something else instead that managed to grab my attention.

I had heard about the new content in GW2, but I guess I won’t even get to attempt to experience it until a week from now. I’m sorry, but I’m not even high level in this game and I’ve barely played it, not because I didn’t want to, but because every time I’ve tried to I’ve been met with some sort of restriction and I’ve just given up instead. That isn’t very “new player” friendly.

Out of curiosity why do you not like the server you are on? And why did you transfer the first time.

Maybe it is not possible for you to find what you are looking for. Also for the most part you cannot judge a server by its lower level zones.
