Benefits of having more than 1 gw2 accounts?
Many items that are useful for an account are account bound items. Thus, you wouldn’t be able to share a lot of things between your two accounts. You CAN share gold and non-bound items, though.
I have two accounts, but just because I like making alts.
You can use the alt account for the daily login rewards and laurels i guess,

Can you use those laurels or other rewards to make gold some how?

Yes you can, buy t6 crafting bags and open them, then mail the mats or sell and mail the gold.
yes, you can buy uni dyes with laurels and sell them… but honestly is it worth buying a 2nd account for that? i dont think so…

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking now also..Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

Don’t waste laurels on uni dyes. If you’re wanting gold, it’s better to get t6 bags (1 laurel gets you a bag of 3 mats, as opposed to 5 laurels getting you 1 dye).

Okay, thanks for the info, much appreciated.
Well..sometimes the accounts are very cheap.
I paid for my second what is not the regular price and I am still content. I got five more characters for less than it would have cost to buy slots.
I can play on both regions.
If my bags get stuffed somewhere I cannot leave, I mail things to my other account.
You can play WvW on two different servers. By which I do not mean spying, but if you have friends/a guild that do WvW on both, or if you enjoy different styles of gameplay that different Tiers can offer.
You can play on NA and EU, if you have friends on both.
Oh, and it gives you extra security against accidentally deleting your bank guilds.
There are times it’s nice to be able to mail stuff to yourself, as mentioned above. And I’m an altoholic.
I also enjoy the occasional anonymity of playing on my extra account to avoid guild drama, but that may be just me.
It’s been well worth it for me. I have a personal Guild Bank and I use it but I know if it was ever compromised anything missing from it would be gone, Anet does not replace anything taken from Guild Banks so just for safe storage it has been worth it to me, the Heavy Crafting bags are a huge bonus. I guess it really depends on you and your needs.
I use my second account for the log-in rewards. Laurels can be traded into crafting materials (which can be sold or used, whatever your preference).
I also use my second account to craft time-gated refined materials, but getting the characters up to max crafting level was very expensive and quite an investment. Also, depending on materials cost and the selling price of the refined materials, sometimes there isn’t much of a return for it to be worthwhile.
I’ve heard some people enjoy using a second account so they can play “how they like to” rather than how their reputation dictates how they should. Sometimes people who are members of 100% guilds play their second accounts so they can have a bit of a break too.
I would recommend a second account over an investment in gems. Eventually the second account will pay itself off and then start turning a profit.

Man that was some good reading. Hmm..i guess i may get a 2nd account after. Overall everyone here gave good input, thank you all.
Benefits? More dailies/daily rewards, gathering, more personal guild banks/character storage, infinite trading post storage without clogging your main account, the ability to mail yourself, the ability to be anonymous. If you do world bosses for example, you can easily get double the rewards in the same amount of time.
When on sale for $10, if you were planning on buying 800 gems anyways, a new account will pay for itself within a few months just by logging in once a day due to the laurels.
Downsides? Only if you intend to treat it as a normal account, meaning you’ll have to unlock everything twice and buy multiple copies of HoT, etc.
to complete dungeons twice , is the main reason , since they only give full reward once . so you can make twice the gold you usually would if you commit and do two tours. lol
Maledictus has like 30 accounts.
Anyways each dummy account that you have generates about 56 gold a month just for logging in.
Its also quasi legal to run multiple accounts on the same box. There are vids of people doing just this to play the game while simultaneously refining huge numbers of materials.
WvW players like to have accounts on different servers for good reasons (play style differences between tiers) and bad reasons (spying on the enemy)
Also extra storage, extra bank, extra bank guilds.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say trolling people, when you get ignored you always get the last word.
I have 3 accounts and two computers side-by-side to play on. So I take the alt accounts into my home instance to harvest the nodes. I suppose, as mentioned above, there are ways you can log in both at once on the same computer, but all I need to do is invite and enter the instance on the one.
But yeah, multiple login rewards, daily rewards, holiday time goodies (for the recent new years I had 2 accounts so could buy double the lucky envelopes), mailing back and forth, etc.
I put minimal effort into the alt accounts, no gems/upgrades, no crafting, and funnel as much stuff into the main as possible (gold, materials, skins, dye). At some point I’ll use them for other things as mentioned above (dungeons, crafting), but not yet. I have an open slot on one that I’ll use for key farming when I feel like it.
