Last time i played it was ~2 years ago in Desolation server.
So am interested if there any reason i should switch to another? Am looking for active english speaking server.
*Seafarer’s Rest
*Far Shiverpeaks
*Desolation
*Gandara
Any reason one better than another?

Engrish? – At least i know 4 languages.

If you are not doing wvw then there is pretty much zero difference between the server youre on due to the megaserver system. As to why thats the case then you can read the old patch notes or look on the wiki, but if you arent doing wvw then don’t waste your money on a transfer.

A new system called ’’Megaservers’’ is actually there nowadays and therefore it doesn’t matter anylonger what server you are a part of. On the other hand, the game will usually direct you to an area based on different factors like friends and homeserver so there is a bigger chance of you ending up in maps with more people from you homeserver.

Technically speaking though, your homeserver only matters when it comes to WvW. All the mentioned servers are active in WvW and they are doing quite well. Only Seafarer’s Rest is higher ranked than Desolation. In fact, SR has been the 1st ranked server in EU for ages. Desolation is really active though and is usually in the top 5, therefore I don’t think you have to worry about moving.

Thanks to the Megaservers you only choose for which imaginery world you will fight in WvW. Else everything has become a colorless mess. No matter which language you speak you will see at least 6 other different languages in Mapchat.
Seriously, run while you can.

Even with Meagservers it seems to be quite common for a map to be made up mainly of players from one server, at least on busy maps like Silverwastes or wherever a world boss is about to appear.

I periodically test it by representing my private banking guild to make sure my guild don’t pull me into a specific map, going to whatever map I want to test and then asking everyone what server they’re on or guesting to. The majority are usually from the same server I’m on.

And Desolation seem to be maintaining their position as the most organised EU server. Admittedly I haven’t tested this properly and I may be biased because it’s been my home server since launch, but until I started guesting around to test megaservers I was under the impression that it was normal for Drytop to get to at least T4 and for Silverwastes to succeed at almost every defend event. Apparently other people have had very different experiences. Just like I thought it was easy to find an organised map for the Marionette or Battle of LA and somehow didn’t realise that’s because I’m on Deso.
