Guild Wars 2

I got Guild Wars 2 without a great graphics card in my desktop computer. I set my graphics all the way up to see what they would look like and was AMAZED that an MMO could look so good! But of course my gpu will not allow me to see this and play well. What is the least expensive graphics card that will allow me to set my graphics on GW2 (and other games) all the way up without losing any performance? I want it to look the best and play the best!

I know that you have to be willing to spend $$$ but I also know that the most expensive cards are sometimes over-kill.

570 or 560ti will do you fine in pve
I have a 690 and wvw is still terrible because of the cpu intensity and i have an i5 3570k

Supposing my cpu can handle the intensity (I am confident that it can) then will 570 or 560ti do well in pvp/wvw? I am also looking for lots of opinions b/c I am still learning my way around graphics cards!

My friend plays with a 560ti comfortably. If you’re really trying to save money, I personally think you could get away with 460 or 480. Might not be able to run shadows all the way up but the different between medium and high isn’t always that noticeable.

it’s supposed to be throttled by the CPU more than the GPU

Now that I have discovered the best drivers for GW2, it looks gorgeous. I don’t have everything on max as I prefer some things down a notch for my eye.

Vsync is on, and I never drop below 60fps

i5 3570K (or no k) + ATI 7850 should be able to run the game relatively well. In WvW you might experience lower frame rate but it wouldn’t be unplayable at all. In any case, there is a lot of room for overclocking if you’re into the best but in 99 % of the world, you’ll do fine.

Has there been any reported differences between NVidia and ATI for GW2?

How the kitten can you find wvw terrible with that setting ? i got an i5 3570K and an old sapphire hd 5770 video card and i can run wvw fine with all maxed settings and i’m also able to record it lol, how can a 560ti be worse than mine ? or…. are u running like 512mb ram ?

The Nvidia 500 series has been a hit and miss with GW2.. If you go 500 then make sure you have a 64bit OS or it will crash out of memory every 15 or so minutes. This is a known issue with them.. I updated my OS to a 64 and run a 560ti and it does okay. PVE does find.. WvWvW depends on how many are around in the area.. but like said above thats more of a CPU thing.

I have 560ti cranked up but it rarely goes at 100% load (Native Sample tho). It’s more about the CPU whether it’s WvW or dungeons.

I’m running an 8-core FX8150 and a AMD Radeon 7700 Series, PvE and WvW run smoothly.

I have an i5 2500k and a 6950 HD and I can run game max settings (except shader) even in WvW without any FPS issues.

running on 2500k@4.3 with gtx570 twin frozr III and it runs great maxed out BUT don’t expect good fps in wvw or LA.

EVGA GTX 660 TI SC + i5 3570K and 8GB DDR3, running smoth in WvW without FPS issues..

My FPS: 40-60 in intense WvW, 50-60FPS in PVE, 25 FPS in Lions Arch Christmas Theme.

CPU Cores normally running at 70%-90% load and GPU at 40%-70% load

Settings at “Best Apparence” and 1600×900

I’m running an EVGA GTX 550 Ti Superclocked edition and I can pretty much confirm what everybody else has been saying about the 5 series. Best thing is I only shelled out $100US for it, including shipping, etc. I run everything on max, except shadows (this is more of a personal preference. I prefer the softer shadows to the more stark ones.)
