I believe Mesmers have the best trait trees, each give the mesmer an entire new meaning, they can adapt to almost any situation. There are so many combinations (albeit certainly not all of them viable) that each can change completely the playstyle of said mesmer

A close second would be Guardian, though they dont get so much gameplay changes with each.

I would dare to say the worst trait trees go to elementalists, regardless of much you pick, most of the time you are forced into certain traits (arcana VIII Blasting Staff for staff wearers, at least 20 points arcana for any weapon, and 10 for BttH in Air), regardless of what you pick the gameplay changes little to nothing, and more often than not you pick the other tree for the stats.

Thoughts? Enlightenment on who has it better/worse?

I quite like Necro trait trees. They do have some odd traits in some odd trees, so builds can be a little all over the place, but I find a wellomancer will play very differently from a minion master, and a minion master differently from a death shroud expert etc … I’ve tried out a lot of different set ups with my Necro and they’ve all be interesting.

I think that the Engie trait options can be extremely interesting, and require a lot of careful planning – but I’m not at a high enough level to really know how they’ll pan out once I unlock the final tier. But I’d be willing to be you can get some very interesting builds out of them.

I think necro and ranger have the worst messes of both lines and traits themselves.
I don’t know about thief, mesmer, or guardian, don’t have those characters.

Thief’s Shadow Arts traitline is the best and worst line we got. Best because most if not all of the major traits are great. Worst because it’s the biggest reason why this class is broken.

Just 10 points in SA line will get you access to regeneration, condition cleanse, initiative regen, and the best access to blinds a thief can have. Add 10 more points and you get more initiative regen and more stealthing options. The catch is, to get these benefits you have to stealth yourself. By these trait’s very nature, using this line could lead to stealth dependency.

I particularly like Guardian trait lines, they work well.

The Fire trait line for eles is awful.

Rangers trait lines are a total shambles and look randomly thrown together.

Traits and Talents as far as Rangers go is pretty abysmal.

Ranger’s trait lines are easily the worst.

hmm dont agree with the mesmer trait tree atm. yes it creates a whole different mesmer depending on what u choose, but atm it creates half viable builds and there are a lot of useless traits too. but yes i like the mesmer, because we get to be very different from other mesmers depending on traits.imo it need a lot of work still.

i’d love to see more builds for every class though. atm there is too much meta going on, because the traitlines are still very messy and only grant a few viable builds for each class.

granted, but remember, in PvE almost anything goes, also, remember that I said it doesnt necessarily need to be "viable. I had a hard time choosing what was the best build for me when it comes to shatterer. Only focusing on shattering clones and I had so many options available to me, that I just coudlnt choose one.

Given how we ar ein the condition meta I might change my build so it removes a condiotion on each shatter (thats 4 conditions if you are specced into self shatter), but instead I went for taking boons on shattering, which is also great for bunkers and such.

They have SOO many options, clones can either slow, remove cond, remove boons, apply confusion, etc etc etc, I feel like I can play a different mesmer everyday for an entire month and not get bored.

Cant say the same for most other classes.

I like many of Guardian traits, and a few of the Ranger traits, in that they change how we play the game. Having Might/Blind/Vulneravility/Burn in melee range refreshing when you kill something is a new ability; having symbols inflicting Vulnerability and healing over a large area is almost a new ability. All arrow attacks piercing targets is a HUGE change for a Ranger.

Necromancer traits are nice, but they are more incremental. Having all Death Shroud traits is a big change, but that’s a lot of traits to get.

To answer this question you need to have played them all and know them very well. I only know mez and ranger so can’t answer that. Mez does have some good trees (dueling/chaos/illusion)

Fact: every Thief tells you to “l2p” when the subject is to nerf stealth.

yeah been working on a build for the current meta…oh well it’s reflecting a lot and cleansing conditions better, but now i got not much dmg due to limited clones and less dps…..oh well maybe the next update will bring new traits and skill changes for all classes. i would love to see more builds out there.
