Was in Cadeaus’s Manor Explorable last night… did I spell that wrong? Anyway, We were plunking away at the shotgun boss guy, and 3/4ths through his HP bar he turns on me and decides I need to die. I’d been rezzing teammates for a good long while without aggro, so yeah it was my turn…

Switched to shortbow, and through a combination of Dodge, Quickshot, Dodge, Quickshot, etc. I tanked him for almost the rest of the fight before I messed up and got leveled…. 3 seconds before we ended the fight.

Was pretty sweet!!!! Love this game!

Yeah, this guy had it out for me when I did this. (at one point I vapor formed, into the next room over, and hid in a corner, only for him to decide that he wanted to come play hide and shotgun with me)

The most annoying thing I found was how I could be literally behind him, and inbetween us would be a godkittensolid post, and then he, shooting forward, would still somehow hit me.

But yes anyone can tank that boss if you can stay behind him and lag/messy hitboxes dont screw you over.

I love how mobs in this game can just decide. “Ok that dude is starting to annoy me.” Then just make a B line straight for you. Lol.

Gotta use your dodge if you wanna be sure to evade his shots, though… Trying to run around him without dodging is asking to get a Graves-style buckshot to the face….

Personally I like the holy trinity.

I think that it makes combat more dynamic and gives people more differing roles to enjoy, and makes characters feel more different from one another.

I think the whole “no trinity” kick was just throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Haha! Some of these bosses seem to get upset when someone attempts to res another player. I find it hilarious.

Razamis, I understand where you’re coming from….

But… this game will never see “LF2M Tank/Healer PST”

I’m fine with tanks and healers. I just hate waiting for them in the WoW dungeon queue. Worked fine in City of Heroes where no combination of roles was strictly required for any content.

User was infracted for being awesome.

I equiped a longbow and proceeded to shoot him while my pet killed the archers 1 by 1 with no retaliation. I had no fun, it was broken and dull.

Meh. Seems like most either love or hate the trinity.

I like both. This is fun, and the trinity is too.

Congratulations.

It is sad that some people still blame GW2 for not having holy trinity as if it wasn’t advertised before that the game won’t have holy trinity. I think only unskilled players need holy trinity since you don’t have to do anything else but only one, single action (dps, tank or heal people) while in GW2 you have to dps, tank yourself as much as you as well as your group if you’re playing with that kind of build, heal yourself and your group -again, if you’re playing that kind of build-, dodge and other stuff.

This game is a good one.

Oh, I think calling those you like trinity play “unskilled” is a bit harsh. Maybe just different skills.
I also find that alot of my hardcore pvp friends really like pve in GW2. They say the pve is the most like pvp they have ever seen in a mmorpg.

So maybe the pve appeals to the pvp’er moreso in GW2 than in any other mmorpg to date.

Hence the dislike of the mechanics from the usually pve crowd.

Meh.

That’s not called pve crowd since they are on forums, complaining, rather than in game. If you go in game, you can see the pve crowd there, playing and having fun.

And I wouldn’t call it different skill since you only have to stand there, not even dodge, do one single role for years.

skill? skill has nothing to do with it, I think it was badly handled, and they “accomplished” it (of you can call it an accomplishment) but limiting peoples ability to play the game, I could play this way in most MMOs ever made, it isn’t new and it wasn’t a design choice made for any good reason, it was a design choice made to play on peoples fundamental lack of understanding when it comes to the trinities existence.

I think that they approached it in bad way, why outright remove peoples ability to play how they want rather than open up the classes and dungeons to allow much more potential for playing outside the trinity? maybe I just don’t like being told I have t play a certain way, because I usually like running dungeons outside the trinity in other games, but I also enjoyed playing within the trinity (healing is fun yo), but in GW2 I can’t do that, I can’t play the way I want despite being told that I could.

not that I was unaware going into it, I knew from the second they announced the details that they were making a bad decision, and that the people were jumping on it like it was some revolution of gaming, that’s what really pisses me of about it, people touting it like it’s the best thing an MMO has ever done (it really isn’t). but I knew dungeons would be like that, I didn’t particularly care because I also enjoy running them outside the trinity, but that doesn’t make it any less of a poor choice.
