Best profession for jumping puzzles?
Mesmer really, not only just portal, but their teleport ability as well makes this an ideal jumping puzzle solver, not only can it reach places more easily, but also help out your team mates in doing so.
A Mesmer with teleportation guns, teleguns are banned from wvw though.
ele can also be pretty good for certain sections. Teleport and ride the lightning.
I know of about 3 shortcuts in the EBG jump puzzle that ride the lightning can be used to skip large segments (including 1 segment that is a hotbed of traps/players waiting to kill you)
@Zenyatoo: I’ve never had an issue with traps in EBG JP… they never seem to be active, and the only one that other players ever seem to mess with is the beast cages in the arena area.
@ZoiN: Does the teleport have the same limitations as the shadowsteps for thieves? Can’t go over gaps, can’t ascend plains?
Elementalist – 25% speed boost while in air attunement (if traited), swiftness on demand (applies to allies too) plus a teleport. No falling damage reduction, but that shouldn’t matter unless you mess up.
2nd place: Thief for 25% speed boost.
All teleports have the same LOS limitations. They aren’t actually all that useful in most puzzles, but they can get you past gusts of wind or something.

I don’t see swiftness as an advantage to be honest :T. Everyone has it in some form or another, and it’s more prone to causing errors than helping. Ever been on a Thief/Ele with +25% speed for a long time, and then try to do a JP on a slow class? Adjustment takes time for such a small speed gain!
However, I will say that swiftness in the case of Griffonrook Run is a definite advantage. Not many puzzles like that though.

the traps are activated by players. Also people can place things like necro wells to ensure they screw you over. For example, placing necro wells on the spike pillars that are mandatory to jump to (unless taking the RTL shortcut) can prevent basically anyone reaching you at all.
