Trying to figure out which one is the best for having a true gold look. They both cost a lot, so do not want to mess up.

It may depend on what you’re putting them on. Some dyes change depending on the item. Even if it doesn’t seem like they should.

If it’s for one specific item, then preview it on that. If it’s for general use, I would strongly suggest looking for close but cheaper matches to both of them.

Dyes change color based on the shader used.

There are several shaders for most materials so dyes wont even look the same on say 2 metal items or 2 leather items.

personally i like pyre but its really up to personal taste and how the dye looks on the specific skin

You can preview dyes you don’t own from your wardrobe to decide which is best.

Oh. So Pyre will look more gold on some things, while Golden Lion will look more gold on others? This is for cloth gear, btw.

Define “true” gold? Because neither of the ones mentioned have the brilliance and sheen of polished gold. I can save you up to 80g by telling you to try Honey Ice instead. Though as mentioned, it really depends on the based material. We don’t even know if your monitor is color calibrated, etc etc. So pick which ever looks best to you.

If you can afford it, be sure to check out illumination and redemption. Those are my favorite gold dyes

Having used Pyre as my main source of ‘gold’ for a long time now it isn’t always the same on various assortments of armor; mix and matching can make the same dye look totally different. Thus is why I’ve come to tinker around and use other dyes such as Illumintion, Redemption and even the newer Golden Lion dye(s) to achieve that ‘same’ dye/appearance.

I can honestly say though, whatever you think looks great go for it. I would suggest experimenting with other dyes first to see if they look well on certain armors.

Only solution here is to hoard every single dye in the game just to be safe.

Like others have said, the dyes look quite different depending on which armor piece you use it on. That said, the top gold dyes I recommend would be:

The new ‘golden lion’ (I think it’s called) one
Illumination
Redemption

Putting them on female human cultural tier 3. Pyre and Golden Lion make the really nice looking gold cloth. Like metallic gold. Golden Lion is a bit deeper.

Eek, I think you all are going way to burnt of a color for gold. Unless you want an old tarnished gold look? Lemon Zest is another great looking gold on metallic objects. It’s pretty close to what color is on Light of Dwayna.

For cloth, it seems to be Pyre or Golden Lion

Redemption is my favorite “gold” dye, and it’s far cheaper than gold lion or pyre dye. If you want less orange in the gold, then there’s Daffodil, Lemon Zest, White Gold, etc.
