So prior to HoT, I was able to deck out my Engi in full ascended gear by buying the mats I needed with gold I made doing the Maize Balm farm.

Now I’m trying to get my Necro in full ascended, but the Maize Balm farm is dead and the prices on materials seem to have shot up. I’ve tried farming Silverwastes but I feel like I’m spending forever on that grind just for a few gold.

So just wondering if there is a decent method to getting my Necro in full ascended gear that isn’t going to require hours of repetitive grinding. I don’t mind hopping on for a 30min grind or so, but anything over that and it takes away too much of my time to actually enjoy the game.

Here’s to hoping the fractal daily chests get patched to give ascended chests at pre-HoT levels.

If they are, fractals would seriously be the fastest and cheapest way to attain ascended gear, not raid tokens, not silverwastes farming (since raids need gear and skill and 9 other players with the same, and the costs for crafting ascended has gone way up).

1. do all fractal dailies every day (can be done quickly doing only the swamp groups)
2. save the daily chests in your bank
3. open them if/when anet delivers on their buffed frac rewards promise
4. if 3 never happens, at least you’ll have plenty of fractal boxes you can sell

Magnetite shards from the raid is an easy way to get ascended pieces.

If you have excess karma and patience you can get the crafting done in the cheap.

The old Tyria karma vendor armor and be put in the mystic forge and then be salvaged. Just Google karma vendor list for a list if the karma vendors and match the level of the item to the cloth you are looking for, fill you bag and MF/salvage.

Then just make your ascended mats daily and you get the set in time for low costs.
