On a beta character after 3 hours of PvP, I decided to open some reward chests. First ever asc armor drop from PvP :’) My heart goes to anyone who had prec drops on beta characters from anything but the mystic toilet. <3

Yes, this is a QQ post.

I don’t want hate and attention, only to hear if this has happened to anyone else. :p

Well the ammounts of exo and asc drops is so high in BW2 and BW3 (I wasn’t in BW1) that it is so obvious that this is intended. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth xD

Exotics and ascended are definitely much more common drops on Beta events.

Anet make Rev great again.

If the amounts of exo and asc drops are so high, why didn’t I get any?

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Maybe you’re actually getting them on your main acc and not beta? :p

And this is why I don’t play Beta characters, I cannot stand being faced with what you have there, OP, an awesome drop.. worthless because it’s on a character where progress means nothing lol

this so much, I play for about 30 mins, then I realize if I found a precursor drop (since I’ve played since a couple months after launch and never found one yet) I’d probably be relatively infuriated with myself for not playing on my main char.

As stated by others already, this is exactly why I don’t participate in the beta.

My luck is already terrible enough that I’ve played 644 days without a single precursor, Tequatl Hoard, or any exotic weapons worth more than 4g. Why in the world would I risk actually getting any of those on a beta character knowing full well it’ll go up in smoke as soon as the beta ends?

I’d be sad to get a precursor on a beta alt, yes. But after three years of play and never getting one, well. I really don’t think the odds are that this would be when it happened, not nearly enough to make me skip all the beta fun.

Don’t you have one of the “cursed” accounts? They don’t get any, no matter what.

To test the game for bugs and give feedback before release and have a chance at playing the new elite specs. In my opinion you should make no progress to reward tracks AT ALL on beta characters because the rewards are useless anyway. They just end up cluttering your inventory.

Er, it was a rhetorical question. I’m well aware of the purpose of the beta, I just value the possibility of getting a good drop more than the chance to play a specialization a few weeks early.

Meh. The possibility of a precursor drop is so small, you’re probably more likely to get hit by lightning walking out to your car. The beta is a sure thing. See the map. Try out the new profession(s). Get a start on figuring out where to go and what to do when the expansion begins so you’re not aimlessly wandering around trying to figure it out while others are sprinting past you. Myself, I’m not going to pass up on a sure thing just because of the extremely small chance that the stars will line up exactly right and a precursor drops.

As a log time fan of GW 1&2, I could not wait for the BEta’s when they were announced. Then they announced GW2, and I was immediately stricken with the realization that the loss of such a good drop would sting for eternity. I immediately decided that my desire to help the company produce a better product was tainted by the RNG bug. It would have been nice to help, but some chances are not worth the cost.
Don’t get me wrong, I have some good luck in the game, but I do not want to risk a good drop going to the birds.

Yeah, this is the biggest reason not to do the beta’s. It would be my luck that I would get a pre. With that said, I still have not got HoT.

This makes me think that I’m right in assuming that anet’s loot tables reset drop percentages whenever they release new content. Anyone remember the karka event when precursors were just raining from the sky? Precursor drops at launch were also pretty generous. They go scare when the game receives no updates whatsoever, and now everyone is getting ascended/precursor drops again in the betas. It seems pretty silly.

Which is, amusingly, the same reason why I did give up on the beta: its contents are a sure thing, if I pass it up now I’ll be able to do it when it’s officially released. I’m not terribly concerned about other people sprinting past be because the fact is there will always be people ahead of me as well as people behind me; I can afford to spend a day learning the maps and still have plenty of people at the same level as me to roll around with.

Also no release is ever bug free, I expect the people sprinting ahead of me to be tripping over all the unpatched bugs like server hiccups during raids or no rewards for completing events. I’m quite content being in the second wave of players to enjoy the less buggy experience
