The more I read into the lore of GW2 through the Durmand Priory’s library, the more I think the manner the books could have been presented could have been better presented. Based on WoodenPotatoes video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4Wn4wAOZmQ&list=UUYUY9_i44IDNOs_Ja815mlA) something like that is very much welcome as it makes reading the lore more engaging in my opinion.

I support this.
There are a lot of stuff to read to get a better understanding of the lore, so anything would help to make them less borring.

The ideal solution would be to have them voiceacted, but i guess Anet paid the playable character voiceactors after launch and sent them home.

Another idea is to make a cinematic camera for when interacting with npcs and items that pop up text conversations. Obviously make it disablable in the options for thehaters.

…and don’t be toxic!

I don’t think voice acting would be necessary. On the beta, there was like a screen whenever you read a book. I’d like something like that integrated here. Perhaps in the future when the Durmand Priory’s library becomes open for public viewing

A Dragon Age style Codex would be cool. There is no better way to collect information and have it all presented in a centralized interface than that….Other than maybe giving us a bunch of collectible books that we can buy/sell like in Elder Scrolls. Or, combine ideas from a bunch of different games into one, and use the recent changes to Mini’s as inspiration::

When you find a Book/scroll/picture/artifact/etc., You can use it to read/look at its contents (Bring up a model of the Artifact/Picture that we can rotate and zoom in on to examine more closely [tomb raider and uncharted have this feature]. Books and Scrolls could be a model [like elder scrolls], or just text works too [like dragon age]). Then, you have the option to right click the book/artifact, and add it to your library, which you can access at anytime through the hero panel, but you lose the item in your inventory. Complete your collection for achievement points and special rewards.

Expanding our access to lore this way is much more preferable than having to read wiki’s and watch youtube videos, or even having to revisit very specific areas to read this stuff.

If I am going to be too ambitious, I’d say I’d like them to take a leaf out of how Skyrim showed it’s flavor text in that you are like reading an actual book and not just looking at a dialog box showing the book’s contents. If anything that would actually make collecting things be more meaningful outside of increasing one’s achievement points.

I think that’s a great idea! I love reading lore ingame, but in gw2 it just feels kind of.. flat. I spent literally hours just reading books in Skyrim, so if the books in gw2 were presented that way I could see myself losing quite a few more hours to ingame books…
