Big Fan = Big Idea's
Well that’s your opinion mate!!
Ok fair enough some people might like Scarlett and some might like where the story is going but lets face it the majority has surely got to be the other way inclined. The characters I love in GW2 are Queen Jennah, Logon, Kasmeer, Brimstone, Delaqua and would love have the stories involve them more (yes I know Kasmeer and Delaqua are involved currently). I currently have not liked 1 villain not 1, Zhaitan was excellent but again the story let him down and so did the end fight, Pathetic. I feel for the love of this game that they have got to sit down and think more about the lore and give the PvE’ers what we want to see, More about the dragons , the cleansing of orr, a real assault on the queen and maybe kidnap, not some (as someone else perfectly put) Jar Jar Binks of GW. (Others can input other idea’s leave comments below)
Secondly
Anyone else get the feeling that we are being told how to play GW2?
- If I want to kill Shatterer more than once in a day and get decent reward why cant I? you let me on other characters!.
- If I want to farm nodes all day why have I got to wait 24hours for the nodes to reappear again?, you let me on other characters!.
- Great your bringing content out every 2 weeks and this is immense and can not thank you enough, but living story? it disappears again after a month as if it did not happen (most of the time) why cant they bring content in and leave it there for us to complete whenever we want to? If someone wanted to do the lost shores content now for example they should be aloud to do so. “Cause the world would become to big creating more unpopulated zones” Fix this then, create it so it runs side by side with the current world. How would an extra dungeon be any more damaging than the dungeons we already got? How would more Jumping puzzles be any more damaging than the ones we got? How would leaving the new Tower of nightmares where it is be any more damage than not having it, and last example how would still having queens gauntlet or SAB be any more damaging? So the champ trains would be smaller but more of them in different zones big whoop. (If there is a problem here please comment below)
Thirdly
Whatever you do please don’t change your routes. The music in the latest trailer is killing me, Don’t feel like Guild Wars at all and its destroying my soul (see what I did there Jeremy)
Just to let people know im doing ok with the achievements and not missed any Living Story content so I am not raging on my own experiences as if I am missing out.
Its getting late for me here now so must wrap this up here but might add more soon so will be posting a reserve below

I think you made a crucial typo; +20 hours in GW1?
Yeah, not that impressive ;P
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
OP, you strike me as the type of guy who likes the same sorts of things I do…and wants a game with a stronger story and better characters.
The problem is, I don’t think most people care about story much at all. Those that do are in the minority…relatively speaking. I’m one of those guys who seldom, if ever, skip cut scenes. But I’m the exception.
We have a generation of players trained around loot acquisition and gear grind. Anet is trying to make a game for everyone and in doing so, they please no one. But if they don’t compromise, they lose me, and lose them. It’s a tough place to be.
And because the story aspect isn’t the most important to most of the demographic (that’s just my opinion), it’s not going to be the first or main focus.
The other side of it is, I didn’t think some of the Guild Wars 1 stories were that good anyway. I think they’re highly overrated. Like I knew from the moment I met them the White Mantle were up to no good. Why was my character so trusting? I knew from the moment I met him, it was a bad idea to hand the staff over to Vizier Khilbron. Why didn’t my character.
To be sure there were some good things in the Guild Wars 1 story, but a lot of it was cliche, or just plain bad. And in the case of unlikelable characters, Prince Rurik was a cardboard cutout most people didn’t like….most people didn’t like Komir either. I think you’re over-estimating how many people liked or cared about the Guild Wars 1 NPCs.
However, I’m with you in wanting a stronger story with more relatable characters. I just think we’re in a minority position.
I’m the type who doesn’t follow the story much. I play to have fun and enjoy playing more then reading NPCs and watching the clips. So, I usually do skip most cut scenes. I do love storys though & love movies, but find most game’s stories not entertaining enough.
I think games don’t capture a story aswell as a movie does, probably because a game makes a story to explain why we need complete an objective, while a movie has more relatable real drama that effects our emotions. However, even a bad story can be presented in a way that is entertaining and enjoyable to watch.
I think one way to keep ppl entertained is to add more witty & comical tactics, i dont want the game to be a joke, but sometimes adding some laughter into clips might make it more appealing to watch. The pauses in the story is also a killer for me. It just make the story so much more boring. Like having to wait for some ultra slow npc to walk a mile. I think these pauses should be cut, like they do in a big production movie. Hollywood has learned how to make scenes action packed, and i think ANET could adapt this aswell. For me seeing visual effects is good, and this game does a really great job with that, and this is one reason i watch some of the cutscenes.
I know it’s not really fair to compare a games story to a blockbuster movie. But in my opinion alot of visual effects, laughter, & less dull dragging moments would help keep me entertained in a games story better.
I must agree GW1 storylines and lore was amazing and it was major part of game experience, taking care about heroes and partybuilds was most amazing for me.
Story campaigns was amazing (long, hard and not generic) characters was memorable.
GW2 Story is simply shame. Story choices sounds good on paper but in real we have a short generic mission what you forget 10 mins after.Tons of non memorable characters and Story isnt important for rest of the game.
You can delete whole story and lore from the game and you dont even notice
