I don’t spend a lot of my time on these forums. I am not posting a question, expecting any direct response, or anything at all. I don’t care if this is a duplicate post.

I am simply posting this to raise awareness of an ongoing problem relevant to the April feature pack release, specifically megaservers. Know where I’m going with this already?

Overflows. Map layers. Kicking. Full maps. Maybe Anet couldn’t foresee this, or something. I don’t know enough about the mechanics of the raw system to really comment about it in-depth, but yes, people are unable to get to their map overflows with their guildmates, or are getting kicked and replaced with new players. This isn’t anything new, and has been happening since it was implemented.

Getting to Sparkfly Fen for Teq 45 mins early, went to toilet, only to come back having been kicked from the layer, and replaced by people who arrived later. Same with Triple Trouble.

The purpose of the megaserver system is to let players far and wide get together, and allow you to enter zones where your guildmates are. And maybe it does do just that, but the new bosses that are meant to be “upgraded!” and “much more fun!” and “much better rewards!” and the “new megaservers! play with your guildmates!” thing isn’t really going together. Bit of a meltdown.

My suggestions? Create instances or map queues.

kitten son, you need to see a doctor.

You already knew that if you afk too long you’ll be logged out. Megaservers doesn’t change that. If you went afk at teq before Megaservers you’d still lose your spot.

So… go to the doctor so you don’t poop for 45+ mins.

I agree w/you but in a short time this post will be closed or added to the or posts about the Mega server.

As an aside, where does Anet get the ppl like the second poster that are such fan boys that any disagreement is met w/stuff like what they wrote? OP did not say they were on the can for 45min, lol; they walked away from the comp and boom they were d/c’d and that happens to me a lot. Have had way more crashing since the Mega server arrived. A realist, yeah right

Making a joke = fanboy.

Logic = fanboy.

Explaining that afking before mega servers results in losing spot = fanboy.

Thanks for clearing that up, I didn’t know being funny/intelligent was directly related to being a fanboy.

You’ve certainly taught me something today.

Thank you.

Patience, people. They’re still working out kinks. The megaserver isn’t even a month old yet.

All in all, I think it’s been fantastic. It’s pure heaven to see people on the maps again. It’s wonderful to be able to play with friends from other servers. The whole thing makes GW2 a true MMO, where you’re actually playing with other people and able to work together, rather than just try and tough it out on empty maps alone. I’ll take that any day, and let Anet work out the glitches in the system as they come to them. They’ve been doing some good work here.

Best wishes, all. Have a nice day.

Prior to megaservers, there was no spot to lose unless you were kicked into overflow (Which was less likely) – you were exactly where you were, same world, same shard, same server, when you logged in as you were when you logged out.

And if these people are getting disconnects then maybe they should be spending a bit more energy making sure they don’t have any little issues at their end and a little less time whining or acting like a tool on the forums. Plenty of people don’t seem to be having any disconnects at all.

Fire up the Hyperbowl ma, we’re going to town!

Would you like some hard cheeze with your sad whine?

Disconnecting from the server shouldn’t be a lockout from content that hasn’t happened before you log back in. It shouldn’t have mattered if he logged in five minutes, fifteen minutes, half an hour, an hour, or five hours before an event, or logged in and out once, twice, or fifty thousand times between going to an event zone and that event’s start.

The disconnect from server is a different issue (And one that still wouldn’t be a problem if Megaservers didn’t kick people to random shards after a D/C), and not everyone can do something about it, because the problem isn’t necessarily on anyone’s “End”, but could be anywhere in the middle. But it’s still irrelevant. The problem is being booted to random shards within Megaservers, instead of staying on the server you logged out of.

Well. actually, if ~ 2 hours or more passes between log out and log in, it is probably safe to risk pushing them into a different server shard than the one they logged out of.

Give me this copy of GW2 you have.

From my experience, if you were kicked/disconnected/leave from teq/wurm your spot would be filled by someone in the queue 100% of the time. Then again, I haven’t done them in months because the chest RNG is broken.

That’s how the system has always worked, though: leave a full map (whether intentionally or not), and you’ll lose your place. The megaserver didn’t do a kitten thing.
