Biggest fear of next expansion?
More sepuko gimmicks, to make more players leave after they bought the expansion, the new stuff will be nerfed, more OP damage specs will apear so players can pretend to be good and bne carried by some classes.
More easy stuff, to atrack probably more bad players from other games.

Also not big on the Jormag plot. The snow zones are pretty, but not pretty enough to be trapped in for an entire expansion. The zones should be reasonably contrasting in order to hold people’s attention.
This is suddenly my biggest fear. I’m scared they may focus the next expansion on Jormag. I will have to listen to that butchered pronunciation for an entire expansion. Legions of GEORmags, everywhere.
Also, if Claw of GEORmag is any indication, the fears will be constant and applied liberally.
How is Jormag supposed to be pronounced? I always assumed it was pronounced according to basic English pronunciation guidelines which would be “Geor-mag”.
I guess it could be French and pronounced with a soft “j”. “Bon Jormag”.
Or maybe it’s Spanish and the J makes an “H” sound like Jorge. “Hormag”. Sounds dirty.
Just being goofy, of course. How is it actually supposed to be pronounced?
It’s the Germanic pronunciation, with “j” as a “y” sound. Many Norn characters and place names (inspired by Nordic culture) are pronounced correctly, just not Jormag.

All filler and no killer.
Expecting legendary armor.
The ability to save builds.
The ability to save friendlist/blocklist to import to alt accounts.
The rest will be filler like Hot maps were. Mel event is still bugged daily and has been on/off bugged since beta if they cant fix long term known bugs like events and movement bugs I have little hope for any new expansions…

Haha, yeah, isn’t it technically supposed to be “Yor-mag”? Plenty of other Norn character and place names with “j” in them have it pronounced correctly. But not the big, bad dragon.
Every time I hear JOE-TON, I die a little inside.
So now my biggest fear is that GEORmag will control the JOEtuns, imbuing them with Claw’s annoying 10-second fear-roar. ;__;

Underwater Adventures/Raids
My biggest fear? Is that the next “expansion” will be just another cluttered-up meta-map in the tradition of Silverwastes/Dry-Top/HoT, instead of something that feels like an actual new big open world to explore.
Right on – couldn’t have said it any better!
Class homogenization
I am all for new Elite Specs (even more if they ever get balanced) adding a different flavor to a class, but I really don’t want to see things like Warriors cloaking, Necromancers making portals, and Rangers with Alacrity.
“I don’t want to see more mesmers”
jk but i agree
Biggest fear. More of the same in which bosses have static phases they go through with stacked mechanics without consideration of the class structure of the group of PCs going against them.
More buttcaps and trenchcoats.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”
Hawks
Making it like HoT instead of like the core game.
Funny. For me it’s making it like the core game, instead of like HoT. :P
Perhaps a compromise is in order.

Central story path is easy, but if you care to go looking for it you find challenges that are much harder?
Kinda like how some of the hardest bosses in FF games are not the end bosses, but the hidden ones you have to really look for.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
While I can empathize with a lot of the things already mentioned – map verticality, power creep (especially power creep), short lack luster story, etc…
My biggest fear is timers. More maps that are just one big event timer. Ugh.

You just hit the nail right on the head for me, I hate timers more than anything else in this game. I am considering time gates a part of that as well.
Looking back at GW1:Factions and all of the timed missions and sneering.
Not fear, but I would be seriously disappointed if we won’t get a new race…

I didn’t mind the time missions in Factions. Its actually my favorite expansion. The difference between Factions and HoT though, is you can /resign and restart if you so desire. Or you can just play through and take as along as you want if you don’t. And you could do it any time you so choose.
With the HoT map timers, if I need to do an achievement at the start of the map or the end of a map or at a specific time, I need to watch the clock in real life, and sync up my real life with the game to be able to work on those things. I can’t do it “at my own pace” or “in my own time.” At times, I really feels like I need to make my life revolve around a game to be able to do certain things.
With all the complaints about HoT map design/difficulty, my biggest fear is that they’ll never design maps like TD or VB again. I don’t require all maps to be this way, but I would be very disappointed if the next expansion didn’t offer something along those lines.
More gating, more hand holding, more restrictions, more map metas/too large events… more of these account wide item systems. What they have been doing for over two years. All which I really hate.

I love Factions too, once you get past the city that is. Those timers though, ugh…
Resign! That was a good and useful feature, I would love to see that and the reconnect after disconnect added to GW2!

Sometimes the forums are more entertaining than the game. Folks can get pretty worked up here.

Part of the reason this franchise is so good is the passionate fan base. The forums are an interesting place.
I’m unable to just state one single “fear”.
1. Even more powercreep / bad balancing
2. Even more gating and grind (to artificially stretch out tiny content..)
3. Even less cosmetic items, coming with the purchased product (The added skins are very few. My mix’n’match heart almost died in agony because of HoT..)
4. Even shorter and more rushed story (Pay a writer with the basic understanding of character development already, please!)
5. Even greater focus on lackluster e-sport & raids a.k.a. stuff only a very little minority of players is interested in anyways.

I have no fears for the next expansion. Whatever it is, there will be things to do, challenges to overcome, collections to complete. That’ll do me.
biggest fear with next expansion is if they add to much new stuff(bling bling) and do not optimize the game (multi core or dx 12) and it crash. they should invest in the game to make optimization. with hot they needed 64 bit client. they have added it after the hot expansion release.
That elementalist will get gutted terribly.
That new games coming out around the same time will offer smoother, more responsive gameplay better optimized leading more people to leave it.
Unreasonable grind for cool stuff.
Legendaries being implied to be a sample of what’s to come but actually being the whole shebang.
More raids.

My biggest fear is they don’t learn anything for HoT. They have forgotten why GW2 successful in 2012.
whelp.. given how hot was i got a few fears…
- Pitifull amount of armor skins added
- Short and obviosly cut story without a proper conclusion
- Few maps and only focused on meta events
- All the seriosly cool stuff gated behind raids only
- Lame and rushed elite specs for certain classes that take months to make actually
work
- Grind galore to the max
- Too much mastery gated stuff
- Still no seperate balance between the THREE game modes
- Huge amount of gemstore stuff instead of in game content
- Even more self mayhem tactics that take all the nice things away
My biggest fear is that they will charge as much as they did with HoT for yet another half an expansion, then wait a year for living story which will then take a multi month break between episodes 4 and 5 like S2 did, and then continually slog on in this slow pace.
My fear is completely unresolved plots, new plots that don’t go anywhere, or worse yet, “that was episode 8, or expansion 2, find out what happens………next year!”. This isn’t a kitten TV show, I’m sick of it.
I’m sorry, but 1/2 an expansion after the game turned 3 years old was ridiculous. I don’t want another.
Guess my GW1 is showing. GW2 has driven this once great franchise into the ground.
“Remember The Searing. We never forget, and never forgive.” – Family Motto
My biggest fear is that they’ll finally do something closer to a ‘campaign’, which I want, but it will be treated like a linear continuation of the story so far. One of my favorite parts of the Guild Wars 1 campaigns was that (even considering the Abaddon thing) they were more or less standalone, and explored each area from its own perspective.
I don’t want to return to Cantha or Elona with the Pact and Destiny’s Edge 1&2 in tow. That’s not to say that I want plots to be unresolved, but that when we do something new, I want it to have its own perspective.

The size. It would wanna be twice as big as HOT considering I know how much they’ll be charging for it.
That we don’t have new legendaries released before it.
If both of those don’t happen I ain’t buying it.
Broken promises, Bait-and-switch marketing. Lot of shine, half/unfinished content for high price tag.
I rly wonder how they will try to persuade us into buying next expac.

The return of Renown Hearts, I loathe those things.
Maps entirely dependant on timers and zergs to get anywhere or do anything, Dragon’s Stand is as good as a graveyard if you’re not taxed into a map doing the meta,
I too am afraid of more Hot stuff and less like the core game
The Ash-Legion heart (the one where you have to sneak past them) makes it’s return as an adventure that I have to complete for the next specialisation-collection.
The horrors… ((O_O))

Is that the one in the cave where you have to stealth past them?
The best route is to go into the cave and take a hard right – that puts you behind some tents, and there’s a flag that you can safely camp on and wait for it to reset. It’s still tedious, but it worked last time I went through there.
My biggest fear is that they’re going to have even fewer explorable zones then the pitiful few we got with HOT.
I’ve come to grips with the mediocre story telling, but the lack of new open world areas is really sad.
LACK OF SKINS
add 20 new sets for each weight,
add a bunch of new weapons skins for each weapon.
and no matter how short the story is, no matter if there are only 3 maps,
or if the OP new professions make it a mandatory purchase for PVP,
i’ll still be happy as long as we get more skins! (read: more than 3)
Even more currencies
More mastery grinds locked behind questionable activities.
Granted, the mastery progression was pretty good, but the adventures seemed to cause a lot of pain. Actually some of the adventures are fun too, but I find some to be a bit too unintuitive, especially the race ones where the boundaries aren’t really defined so it’s kinda like “where do I go!?”
Basically, there should be many more than required mastery points. Or at least less “filler” masteries. That just made it more annoying to get whatever you needed. I think filler should be at the end, to serve as the frosting for people that like being completionist and leaving the ones like me that just want to get through it alone. \
For example, a mastery that gives you a shiny aura in an area is fine even if it takes forever to grind. A mastery that trivializes an otherwise impossible area (sup poison mastery) is not okay to make a grindfest
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

This thread should be treated as invaluable information to the devs. Highly recommend it be bulletin board material and to be looked over thoroughly.
Biggest fear: no GvG again and no new WvW map because of how DBL failed, more eSport stuff like Stronghold without content and rewards to support it.
My biggest fear is that the next expansion will be so awesome that these forums will become a ghost-town and uninteresting to read while I’m at work.

LOL… you do that too?
My biggest fear for the next expansion is a poorly-made personal story. I liked what they did with Heart of Thorns’ gameplay, music and meta event narrative. I did NOT like what they did with the instanced story. It honestly felt like they had good ideas half-developed but never finished them before rushing you off to the next phase! The story content was too short and there’s still a truckload of material they never addressed!
…I hope this doesn’t happen again =_=
It’s not my biggest fear for the expansion but for Guild wars in general.
My biggest fear is that Caithe will prove to be correct .
That love is not enough to bring anyone back from the nightmare.
More power creep. Imagine if the next set of elite specs are as far above HOT specs as HOT elites are above core.
Yes, that’s my biggest fear too.
