Biggest flaw in LS Season 2 in my mind.
Coiled Watch event- impossible to do alone or with a small group. Guard the Dolyaks- impossible to do alone or with a small group. The Barrowstead event- impossible to do alone and still hard to do even with a large amount of players.
Unless the scaling on the event was changed, I’ve done that event solo quite a few times. It’s not even a group event. Ever since the living story however, it’s just zerged. Even now, I went out there to see and there were ~40 people finishing up the last event in the chain.

I remember doing this solo before it was incorporated into the Living Story. It’s a fun and seemingly monumental Event chain. At the end of the Barrowstead Event, it took me a bit of elbow grease, but I cinched it.
I assume your complaint, made two hours ago, is close to when you attempted this feat. Since the Icebrood Shamans were made to Veterans with Champion-spawning-sized player mobs in the vicinity, I would guess you don’t have any Traits and/or are wearing Shaman’s equipment, possibly on a Guardian. Computer performance issues?
On another note was their any reason for the Party Politics mission? Oh look someone is bad mouthing the Queen yet again and I have to figure out who. Am I playing my personal storyline missions again or am I dealing with the Elder Dragon Mordremoth?
I love playing detective, that’s Batman’s biggest draw for me. I hope there’s another one like this, piecing together clues and finding liars.

They had to have been scaled up or bug, at least the Coiled Watch event. I was trying to do it and 2 other players were there and each wave had about 10 Icebrood pop up at once mixed with normal, vets, elites and a champ or 2 near the end.
Might have been because I started the quest/event talking to that one NPC during the LS quest telling me to go there and talk to that guy.
But my point is the events that HAVE to be won to move forward with the LS shouldn’t be there. At least I don’t think they should.

I was playing a Ranger and for a game that says it’s “play the way you want” (even if it’s a lie, it doesn’t matter) an event of mission shouldn’t be made to where you have to have the right traits and wearing the right armor to win.

It is no lie.
I believe I wasn’t clear in my initial post, sorry. I was implying that perhaps you’re not utilizing Traits and equipment that best suits how you approach this situation.

Why not exactly?

Like I said GW2 is “play the way you want” not “play the way we make you because this event or mission is made with only one play style approach so you HAVE to have the right traits and armor set to even have a chance to win.”

That’s not what play the way you want means, nor was it ever meant to mean that or implied that it means that. Play the way you want means that properly traited and geared players can use a number of different play styles to achieve their goals.
Play the way you want does not mean that I should be able to beat content with no skill while running around in blues of random stats.

I have full exotic armor and exotic weapons and working towards a ascended long bow.
“properly traited and geared players can use a number of different play styles to achieve their goals. "
So what you are saying is I can “play my way” as long as I follow the rules and wear the right armor and have the right traits going? If I use a different armor set and different traits for the play style I personally enjoy I’m doing it wrong and i’m not allowed to “play my way” because I’m not following the rules?
I’m working towards making Zojja’s Greatbow, am I following the rules by making it or am I still not allowed to “play my way” with it because it’s the wrong stats?

While Jormag was going on, I went out there to see if I could solo it. Starting from the assault on Coiled Watch to the end, it’s all soloable. Even got 2 achievements out of it (Boomyaks and Finish What You Started). There was only 1 elite during the entire run which spawned during one of the last waves at Coiled Watch – and it wasn’t a problem with ~10 NPCs around – barely even noticed it was an elite.
