I know that double click macros aren’t allowed but is it ok to use the mouse wheel to open loot bags?

I ask because I have a lot of loot bags to open from farming for the portal (I’m sure that others do as well) and would love not to shorten the lifespan of my mouse.

If anyone has an answer to this, my mouse and I would be very grateful.

I really, really doubt that this would get you in trouble.

The reason macros get banned is due to Anet going ‘this third-party asset may give an advantage over other players,’ after all, rather than ‘did they adjust their keybinds?’

If your mouse can bind it that way it’s perfectly fine. Double clicking is actually a single action. It’s just you have to double click to trigger the command traditionally.

Another thing you can do is Alt + Shift + Numlock. It turns the numpad into a mouse simulator. (It’s a Windows function) Not useful at all for actually moving the mouse, but you can use it to double click repeatedly by pressing the numpad + key.

You should look up the details online to learn the full functions, but essentially you press Alt + Shift + Numlock to activate the mouse simulator, press the numpad / key to select the left click button as your active button, and then press numpad + key to double-click with the single press of a button.

When you’re done, press Alt + Shift + Numlock to deactivate the mouse simulator.

I temporarily bind my scroll down wheel to equal 1 left click to open usually stacks of luck, bags or any other unbearably numerous amounts of stacked items. I cannot zoom out normally when I do this, that’s the only ‘downside’ if I accidentally zoom in.

I have asked about this too and albeit no solid response from dev(s) the player base states it does not break any rules as you’re simply key binding your mouse to initiate an alternate action.

Just a heads up: I would refrain from binding it to equal a double click as I believe that kinda goes against the rules.. Just make sure 1 scroll down equals 1 left click.

The rule is 1 button press = 1 action.

Technically binding left click to the scroll wheel fits within that – you move the wheel once and you click once. It’s just quicker and easier to click rapidly than with the actual button.

You’ll be fine.

Also helpful is a mouse like the Logitech G700 with a free-scrolling mouse wheel ;D

Thank you! I didn’t want to get banned or something by opening loot bags, that would stink. lol

Oh and my mouse also gives you all a huge thanks!
