Birthday gifts?
Nothing has been said about this matter, as far as I know.
“You can’t have more than 10 HS decks because that would confuse people”
“30 fps is more cinematic”
after the kites I don’t think that is such a great idea :P
Just kidding.
I have wondered because I know in GW they had a tradition of giving you a mini on the anniversary of your character.
No idea if they will continue along those lines or will just have a Birthday Bash for the game itself.
I’m pretty sure they are planning something- they like surprises
As Morrigan said it might be better for sanity’s sake not to have any ‘gifts’. Anyway I did not play GW1 so there is absolutely no baggage that something needs to be given on character anniversary, though it would be nice whatever the gift is if there actually is a gift. Maybe it will be a horse so you can look it in the mouth?
I’d be surprised if they didn’t do birthday presents with it being such a large part of GW1. I still go back on occasion and see if I have any presents. Yesterday I opened a mini-Mad King Thorn, which gave me 50 in the HoM for mini-pets.
I only wish I could put my dedicated minis into a time capsule and pull them into GW2. I miss my wittle ones.
If we don’t get anything close to 2 precursors per account the forums are gonna flip!

Even if we do get something, it’ll probably be account bound. Which in my eyes is a waste, but im aware not everybody feels the same. It just think it would be nice for them to finally give us something that isn’t account bound. At least then if it’s something I find to be useless (like the kite), I can sell for a bit and not have to outright delete it
If I remember correctly the first year birthday gifts were a complete surprise in GW1 and every year after that Anet didn’t say a word about what would be in the gifts until players started opening them (and then it was usually minor clarifications – like confirming that the second year minis were all different to the first year ones).
They might want to do the same thing in GW2 and not tell anyone what we’re going to get (or if we’re going to get anything at all) until the early head-starters wake up on the…28th is it? and find it in their mail.

25th was early start.
It would be interesting to see, that is for sure
I am tempted to make a bazillion cakes and spam mail it to random people- pity you can’t mail the firecrackers.
I’d be surprised if Anet didn’t do ‘something’ for character birthdays. Or maybe, since everything is pretty well account based, maybe they will just do one annual ‘account’ birthday for you, which might actually be a little easier.
Of course, I’m expecting some type of game birthday celebration as well. I guess we’ll see in about a month, won’t we?
(I’m still voting for birthday minis. Me likies my minis, hehehe..although if they are character based bdays again, I really need to stop rerolling my chracters if I ever want gifts haha)
I’m sure whatever it is, people will complain about it.
Oh, without a doubt, Especially if its something account locked and not tradeable.
