My sympathies, then. Black Friday is awful.

Gaz is doing a Black Friday special for Marvel Heroes. BOGO on heroes and costumes. I’d love a buy one get one free from ArenaNet one time. Gaz does it multiple times a year.

I just came back from our local store in germany and they indeed had a black friday sale going on with 15% on all pots and pans, game consoles, smart phones and tablets, toys and some other stuff.
But nothing compared to scenes in the US.

We got a bunch of items on sale a few days ago. Since ANet stopped doing any kind of sales since the announcement of HoT in January, you could consider someone screwed up and started the Black Friday sales a week or so earlier, because the greed is strong in them, so many items on sale at once couldn’t be something normal.

Don’t look like there is gonna be one, There is a free exp booster and trading post express in there tho

Plot twist: Anet is getting too much money so they thought they would be modest and NOT have a sale to get said money.

Since I did not buy the new [outfit/glider/misc.crap] combo pack I now have 2100 gems, sitting there.

Free stuff is nice. Discounted stuff would be good too.

What sucks is that’s true. They probably got so much money from people buying gems ready for Black Friday. The problem is on them though. Without a sale, more people are going to have gems; they won’t make as much money when they actually do have a sale because we all held on to our gems.

Gems sitting unspent are gems that are not replaced by buying more gems. A one time purchase is nowhere as good as a steady flow of purchases.

It really is there loss if they don’t want are money, on black Friday every one is looking for deals no deal no buy, there loss

Well, REI chose not to, electing to let their employees have a vacation. Granted, a gem store sale could likely be programmed to go off automatically and not need nearly so much human effort as manning a retail store, but apparently ANet isn’t the only one balking.

Also note they did tweet they’d be thanking us “this weekend” with things in the gem store, so the next two days could hold more than did today. The tweet was "We’re thankful for #GW2 players for being part of our journey–visit the gem store this weekend for thank-you gifts! "

There was a twitter post saying there would be free items in the gem store this weekend. As for Black Friday… that’s mostly a U.S. thing, as any other country that does celebrate some form of Thanksgiving do so in a different day.

The items are there now… a single TP and an XP booster.

John Smith is going to do his laundry later tonight and find a post it note in his pocket that says… “Black Friday sales for Friday”.

No, I mean for that specific person. It also may not matter based on the player turn over. they may cycle through players fast enough & steadily enough to just sell gems.

It may be one person, but that one person is a member of all the players who are sitting on unspent gems and that is not an irrelevant consideration. All those unspent gems are a profit lost to them when they aren’t spent and replaced. There’s no reason they should pass up a sale to a willing customer on the grounds that there will be more customers later.

Maybe cyber Monday will be the big day? It is more digital, but I do realize there is some
hard copies too.

I was really really hoping for some sales, and returns of older skins.

And they’re all exclusive to the bundle.

And you need a mastery to buy it.

Until they re-release all of the outfits as armor sets that can be mixed and matched in the weight class used to build them (some are quite obvious…) there’s really not much they can put in the Gem store for me to buy…

I rarely buy minis. I bought tools (have plenty). I bought bank and bag space (have plenty). I will never buy outfits (blech!). I WOULD buy more armor sets. Pretty simple really.

Their marketing genius who came up with ‘no more armor in the store’ needs something a lot nastier than a lump of coal in her stocking this year.

More money that I can spend on Steam instead yet again I guess.
