Yeah Anet when are you going to stop jipping us on one of the slots for the black lion chest? Get rid of the trick or treat bag and quit jipping us. Nobody wants to spend money for keys only to get candy corn or halloween tonics.

Yes, I thought, that Halloween ended already. I have 4 keys to use, but dont want waste them for 4 bags… WTH…

If you research the BL chest from the recent updates, you’ll find that the first slot is typically a booster. So instead of a booster, you’re getting a ToT bag.

You can kitten whether or not that’s a good trade… but you weren’t going to get a super rare drop in that slot. In other words, you’re not losing out on anything except a random booster.

Lol, and before Boosters, it was Mystery Tonics.

I’d trade in Boosters or Tonics for the Wardrobe Unlock and the ~10% chance for the Rare item any day.

The ToT just feels weird and out of place now. Just give us three random things and add a fourth for Holiday related stuff.

I’d rather have boosters then tot bags. at least the boosters were useful.

dont get whats up with all the hate on boosters? dont hoard them, use them and you’ll see they are much better than kittenty tot bags

I really didn’t think chests could get any worse, but then Anet lowered the bar yet again.

I refuse to spend another Gem or even farm for chests now- they are dead to me. If they start gating content to them at all, I might as well just not buy anything at all from Anet

In the past when they have added something like to TOT bags, it was in a fourth slot. So having it take up one of the three seems like a negative. Personally, I got a key for a character finishing a zone, and for the first time since beta, I am saving the key in the bank until they “fix” the BL chests.

There are two equivalent ways to look at this:

1. The festival drop of 10 weeks/year is promoted to a permanent seasonal drop of 52 weeks/year; the guaranteed booster is replaced with a 10% chance of a guaranteed skin unlock.
2. The seasonal drop replaces the booster; the 10% chance of a skin unlock replaces the ~20%-frequency festival drop.

I have chosen #1, partly because festival matches season better and partly because it keeps me from getting cranky about a change in an item which has never been anything other than a Bag of Junk — the value is in the excitement when you roll; it never has been in the actual contents (except for the tremendously lucky among us).

I leave it as an exercise to the reader to make their own choice between (1) and (2).

In September, 2 slots were generic, one was a booster, and one was the (sometimes) festival drop. In November, 2 slots are generic, one is a seasonal drop, and one is a (sometimes) wardrobe unlock.

ToTs are unlikely to drop anything other than rubbish, but so are the generic slots, which drop such gems as Tomes of Knowledge.

tl;dr It’s all rubbish, with only the tiniest chance of something excellent.

Again, it’s your choice to view this however you like; I’m explaining how I see it and as a bonus, why I’m doing so. People love to whine (or whinge, depending on their country of origin) about BL chests. My point is that they never have been better than Bags o’ Junk; all that’s changed in this iteration is which junk.

I think it is more 2 slot generic (with one being the chance of a Wardrobe Unlock as a common drop), 1 seasonal, and (sometimes) the Rare and above drop slot appearing (the 4th slot).

Exactly!
Now it seems we’re getting -1 slot for the same price…at least reduce the cost of keys then.
I have not bought any gems or keys since that patch, and don’t intend to until they adjust it. Either get rid of the ToT bag or add an extra slot.
