I am one of those players that like to purchase Black Lion keys from time to time, as well as having one spare slot so I can create toon, story mode at lev 10, and 1 key. This has been stopped which doesn’t worry me, as I prefer to buy 5 keys current price 90 Gold for 450 gems. Since this change, only 1 person has posted that they got a key in a drop, so I assume the drop rate is extremely low. I purchased 5 keys today, and cannot believe the useless items I got for my 90 gold. Portals, I have plenty and have never used 1. Boosts to armour, MF and all the stuff we know doesn’t work anyway. The biggest disappointment was not 1 black lion scrap in 5 chests, not 1 dye in those chests, and 1 mini which is worth 20 silver. So what I am saying is, has the days come and gone for the weapons skins, because its going to cost you over 1000 gold to basically get a skin that sells for so much less that the cost to get it. It just seems like the people that play the game with a little integrity and don’t try rip off the system are always the ones getting penalised. No more chests for me, my hours spent to get this gold, wasted in 20 seconds flat ^^ salty and dissapointed

This is nothing new though, with the BLC you are paying a high high price at the chance of something ultra rare/expensive, the reason why these items are worth so much gold is because they are so rare,

If you truly want a skin from a BLC you are best to buy it directly from the TP you will save a lot of gold in the long run, and will most likely not be so disappointed.

I stopped playing the RnG Chest game about 3 weeks after launch, if the Keys where say 20gems each they may see a lot more people buying them.

Yeah, playing the lottery tends to leave people with the same distaste in their mouth. My advice would be to avoid playing the lottery. -Sid

How often are you buying these 5 keys? Once a month? Instead of buying 5 keys for 90 gold, do your weekly key run and get 4 keys a month for zero gold spent.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

In 3 years the most worthy things i got: 13 scraps, 3 SAB minis, 2 mail carriers (both were parrot) and around 4 minis that i sold for around 2 gold each. Cca 70-90 opened.

opened 50 chests recently with the 3 years accumulation from story, map completion, and key runs.

Barely 20 scraps (last scrap on chest 53, got 3 keys from opening the other 50)
and a metric crap ton of well crap

Chest contents are currently garbage, with the few worthwhile items having absolute garbage drop rates. Wouldn’t waste my time or money on them at all to be honest.

“The short answer is that new content is not going to drive people away from the game.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon

Tip:

Unless you have a very disposable source of real life cash simply do NOT buy keys from either real cash OR cash converted to gems. As all you are doing is encourage anet to keep this system in place. It’s time it went from the game and the only way that will happen is if people stop buying the keys….

Boycott it (by not buying, not on these forums by making posts etc as that is against the TOS :P). I have for the last 3 years but that does not mean that I have not bought gems for other things that have been in my onion well worth it.

Since when did this business of being a hero become being a business?
