I agree that it’s not actually a good deal for new players, and should probably be revisited by the store team. I’m inclined to think it’s more likely to cause regrets than gladness.
Adding a wardrobe unlock, or a home harvesting node, seem more likely to encourage new players to care about some of the otherwise not so “pushed” system in the game, or possibly a miniature unlock token?
I agree that it isn’t a good buy for new or old players.
They must sell, however. They have been in the store for a long time.

I don’t think that indicates anything really, I mean it costs them nothing to leave an item in the store, it cost them more to remove an item.

LOL. That might be true, but they remove a lot of items from the store all the time. So who knows why it is still there.

It doesn’t cost them anything ‘extra’ to remove an item now — it’s part of their standard operating procedures to add/remove, and to decide which to remove based on sales.
So the fact that it remains there is a good indicator that some people are spending cash on it.

Right, by that logic lots of people are buying upgrade extractors too. They add and remove cosmetics regularly, not basic goods and services.
If people are buying it they should leave it, but they really should at least rename it. It feels like a trick to steal money from people that don’t know better. After all, when you are new, you don’t know what things are really valuable or not, and here are the devs of the game saying “give us a few more $$ and here is a package of things that will be useful.” If the name didn’t imply what it does it wouldn’t seem so shady.
but it’s not like the BL keys are going to help
They’re in the Introductory Package to introduce new players to the gemstore gamble boxes.
ANet may give it to you.
Oh, getting new players to gamble.
Seems legit!

At today’s rates 1600 gems can be exchanged for 320 gold. That’s a lot of minis, dyes and large bags which is what I find interesting in that package.
Don’t care about the box ‘o fun, tradesman’s or recovery package.
RIP City of Heroes

A new person probably wouldn’t know that it’s not good …
