Were they lowered with the new patch or something? I’ve opened 10 chests in the past two days (5 each day) and I only received one scrap on my second day. Also dye kits seemed to have been appearing a lot more often as well. Anyone else getting similar results?

Sorry I’ve opened thousands of chests and what I’ve noticed over the past year or more is:

- Tombs of Knowledge used to drop frequently, now they are quite scarce
- Ticket Scrap drops may alter in frequency as ANet does announce things like “X now drops from chests more commonly” or “X from chests has now increased”
- a month or so ago I got quite the number of stand alone dye drops (e.g: Shadow Dye things or Flame & Frost dyes) from doing 150 keys. My most recent batch which was around a week after HoT pre-purchase announcement I did 100 keys and there were only about 3 dye things that dropped. (I did manage to get roughly 44 ticket scraps + 2 actual Tickets out of the 100 keys as sometimes I had double tickets drop)

So yeah things are constantly changing and some are more noticeable after a long duration like the ToK drop rates for me, personally.

They usually make some sort of announcement in the patch notes when they alter scrap drop rates or change what can drop. Since they didn’t mention anything with the last update, it’s probably just RNG.

In the last couple of weeks or so, I have received at least one scrap from each chest opened. The increased rate announced awhile back still seems germane, to me.

Still, as we all know, ymmv.

i’m getting scraps only now… haven’t seen a ticket from the chest for a long time…

I opened 5 yesterday and got 2 scraps from 1 chest, 1 from another…and I cant remember if I get or fourth or not. Haven’t had a ticket drop for a while though. Not that I buy many keys mind you for any accurate measurement.

Considering you need 5 tickets for most weapons and there’s an achievement for getting all in a set, the drop rate vs weapon cost per ticket seems incredibly disproprotionate. One would wonder if they’d make more money if they either increased the drop rate to 1 guaranteed scrap per chest or reduced older skins to 2 or 3 at most.

I opened 10 chests and got no scraps, no tickets. I got 2 Raven mail carriers from the same chest. I could however, open my own bank access express shop, they’re dropping like confetti. I’m at the stage now where if it wasn’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all.

when i last opened 100 chests in a row, i got 3.5 full tickets. i’m assuming the drop rate on 10 ticket scraps/full tickets is roughly 3.5% then.

incidentally, I’ve noticed that you get the same number of skins if you simply convert the gems to gold and buy them that way.

ive opened 15 chests and got 4 scraps. So seems to be normal, I am getting a ton of the tomes of knowledge. More than usual.

Whenever a game relies on its cash shop to finance it, expect all gold sources in game and all items you get through gameplay, to be “adjusted” in order for you to use the cash shop.

Really! I didn’t know those started dropping from BLTC chests. Someone will need to edit the Wiki, I guess.
