Anyone else notice the price of crafting materials raise in price from 25%-75% over night? There is something going on that I can’t figure out. I mean the price of powerful bloods went from a steady 12.5s for a month to 20s over night. Someone knows some insider information.

Fewer people play the game, fewer materials enter the market, prices rise.
3 million copies of GW2 sold is totally meaningless if not many people continue to log in on a daily basis.

Lol at this response.

But ye, the current real reasons are likely to be bot bans and market manipulation

Population has no real effect on the price of a given good in a videogame. (except in instances of extremely rare supply)

More people means more production of that good, more people means more demand.

Botters aside, people get mat drops from actually participating in the content. Lower participation → lower production.

Even with low player numbers the demand for high end mats remains high because the remaining die hard GW2 players are going for legendaries which require those mats.

There was recently a massive wave of bot bans. This naturally stunts the supply of goods from bot farmers. The recent spike is due the market adjusted to its real rate (i.e. rate w/o botters).

It really doesn’t have anything do to real players leaving the game, only bot characters.
