Each server is named after a place in Tyria, but where exactly is Blackgate. It’s my home server so I would like to know

It’s the gate to Mordor.

Seriously though, I don’t think anyone knows for sure. Some servers are not named after places. A lot of Tyria hasn’t been revealed yet either.

Hmmm as far as I know, we do not yet know what Blackgate is. It may be a nickname to something existing in game already or something that is yet to come. Which is entirely possible since there is a lot of world yet to be explored.

Makes me excited and sad at the same time because Anet didn’t implement the extreme places like Crystal desert, Far Shiverpeaks, and Ring of Fire but mostly jungle and snowy places

Blackgate Penitentiary is the main Gotham City prison for criminals not deemed sufficiently crazy for Arkham Asylum. It has a vastly superior security record, probably due to the lower ratio of inmates who are also genius supervillains.

If the actual part of Tyria your server is named for is never revealed, you can at least draw comfort from sharing a name with the place all the Joker’s theme-named henchpersons (Giggle, Chuckle, Guffaw, etc.) from the Adam West TV series hang out between heists.

mind you, Ehmry Bay is not named after a place in Tyria, but named after an ANET employee instead. how about that for a server name?
