Unfortunately I didn’t get the chance to report this person as they had died and waypointed too quickly.

I’m DH and we’re up against SBI and CD. SBI brought a sizeable zerg to EB and so it’s ZvZ.

We were taking a tower and managed to do so just as the SBI zerg got inside cutting off some of the tail. I locked in on one, a thief, who immediately ran into the tower that our side owned and had just capped seconds earlier. How did he get in? He literally ran right through the closed gate. I know it wasn’t a graphical issue because since I was on his heels, I stop dead in my tracks by the gate.

Of course he basically ran into our zerg by doing so, hence he died and waypointed fast.

I think there is (or was) a method, using the terrain, to do this. But, without context, I’m not sure if that’s the case.

Gone to Reddit.

Sometimes I’ve found myself running to catch up to my Zerg; I literally reach the gate and it does the closing animation. My toon stops for the tiniest second but somehow gets weirdly teleported just inside, behind the gate so I got in by a thread. Only happened to me twice now but I think maybe that’s what happened with the thief.

Possible ‘lag’ too. I’ve had cases of what looks like I’m running a few steps behind someone only for the screen to glitch out and all of a sudden I’m running a few steps in front.

It didn’t close in his face, it was closed for at least 20 seconds prior.

Given the lagginess on the internet* the last few days, I would not jump to conclusions.
I was guiding a friend through SW jumping puzzle and after he jumped/dropped in totally wrong places a couple of times we figured out we were out of sync and he saw me running/dropping/ in wrong places all the time. We had to coordinate using voice communication in the end.

TL;DR: stay vigilant of course, but I think what you describe is probably lag

*there are some routing issues on the www the last couple of weeks, not ANet servers fault.

Having come from SBI (migrated to DB to be woth friends) I can at least assure you, there are many really good people there, and tend to look down upon such behavior. Heck, Ive seen people on SBI kicked out of guilds, reported and warned about doing such things. While it may be possible it was a hack, try to get ahold of the guild leaders either throughTS or the SBI website, it would help if you remembered their guild tag (Dont post it here). They can and will help track them down and get it taken care of.

I’ve also seen (ahem) flying omega golems, thieves that can backstab 22000 damage on a 3200 armor warrior friend of mine, and a ranger whereby every arrow of his Rapid Fire hits for 8000 damage each, not to mention his downskill hitting 18000 and instantly downing someone from my world from full health. Also, thieves who can apparently reflect a killshot without leaving stealth.

WvW contains far more hackers than the rest of the game does. It’s still not common, by any means, but it can happen.

A tip. When you see someone doing something that’s OBVIOUSLY broken, invite the person to your party to expose his name, then screenshot it the moment the name appears in the top left, if he accepts the bait and joins the party. If not, the best you can do is the guild tag. Talk to the guy and find out if what happened is possible in the first place, you might learn something – but keep the screenshot just in case.

P.S. There was an old bug where people managed to Blink/Shadowstep through walls/gates, often by accident, sometimes not. Maybe the bug happened again. The last time someone did that on Crystal Desert, we warned him to exit the tower immediately, and when he refused to comply, our entire zerg reported him. The same bug is also responsible for glitching to be stuck inside a fort wall with no way out other than for someone else to cap the whole structure, or to waypoint.

P.P.S. The only time I’ve seen a hack outside WvW was in Snowball mayhem, when someone managed somehow to use normal skills within the activity. Needless to say, snowball skills are absolutely no match for standard skills.
