I could be wrong, but I’ll let the lawyers & legal decide. However I’m pretty certain this company has the GW2 logo everywhere on the sites and all over a ton of merchandise/magazines/posters/weapons/MMA gear. People posting anything about the GW2 logo on the FB page get deleted pretty quickly. Figured someone at Anet would like to know.

Dude, are you blind? It’s the same dragon head of the “2” logo. It has been traced, just removed the horizontal part.

Yup, it’s the top of the logo. Probably didn’t have enough photoshop skills to take the “GUILD WARS” out of it, so its cropped just above the letters instead.

Yep, that actually is the GW2 logo. Every little detail match. I really dont get why they didnt just smooth out some parts or added back spikes or something… Didnt need much to look at least a little more unique. This is just lazy.

But on the upside, its not that Chinese game that basicly copied the GW2 art and UI, lol.

Except the gw2 logo is (well, was) unique.
You can find similar heads, but not the same, with the same angles, scales and so on.

I am amazed how some people have nothing better to do with their lives other than look for drama/attention.

We can offer any opinions we want about whether the logos match; it won’t matter — it will be determined by legal teams whether to litigate or negotiate.

For future reference, those who want to alter ANet to stuff like this can just email ANet, create a support ticket, or create a forum post — any of above will get the alleged violation to the attention of whoever handles this stuff for ANet.

Just using the logo would be bad, but these guys actually took a patent on stolen GW2 logo? Lol. Give em hell Anet.

Good grief…if they’re too uninspired to come up with their own logo:
1) Don’t steal one from an mmo, quite a lot of people play them, someone will recognize it.
2) If you simply cannot resist theft, at the very least don’t do whatever they did to the logo that makes it look like it’s slightly melted or fan art drawn by a 3 year old.

I get the same feeling as when gold sellers whisper me, just a really exasperated sense of “why?”… =_=

I don’t understand how one can look at those two logos and not see the almost perfect resemblance. It is not just a dragon head, it is Anet’s dragon head. This is a form of theft and that is why the subject was brought up.

Hey, thanks for letting us know. And yes, I forwarded the concerns earlier today.

In retrospect I should have just emailed or did a ticket or something, but I figured it would be buried in the usual Patch Day Tickets. Also, didn’t want to start a witch hunt and didn’t even think about it until I got back to work (forums blocked there) so my bad on that part.

If it was just a FB page or logo that’s pretty petty and minor. But they sell A LOT of stuff with the Dragons Head on it so to me that’s a red flag. Not to mention the INSANE amount of respect I have for Kekai Kotaki etc. Those artists should be credited where it is due and that’s the biggest piece for me.

Actually it was posted on reddit way before the op made a thread in this forum. Perhaps both are the same person, I don’t know. Otherwise the guy on reddit deserves the credit for having exposed this ripoff.

True enough. Was on lunch doing dailies and a friend shot me a link to the FB page. Later told me about how it was all on reddit when I asked why a white dude in Cali would know about a magazine from Spain (?). Reddit was the answer. So credit to /u/ Falkian on the GW2 sub.

I hope Arena patented their logo cuz it appears those guys are pulling a Apple move and patent something that already exist and try to take credit.
