Is the way of the future.

The concept of picking a single class and rolling through the game with that one class is outdated. For someone like me (which is pretty common), it just creates alt-itis and prevents you from investing too much in a single character.

Newer MMOs are starting to consistently use a class blending concept. I.e. there is a class system, but it’s more complex than just ‘pick a class at the beginning and you’re that class the whole game’.

IMO, GW2 should find a way to do this – even if it’s a simple as allowing you to level different classes separately on the same toon with some synergistic benefit, like giving you access to some cross-class sills or traits. This would also add some general complexity to character building, which the game sorely needs.

Would be nice, but it’s a bit late to change now in my opinion.

Things like this are designed as the game is being made, count yourself as never seeing this feature.

The closest they could come to this is adding a subclass system, basically branching each profession into separate paths. If they did this it would be more likely something you choose after hitting level 80 to prevent having to redesign the leveling process already programmed into the game.

For example, when the warrior hits level 80 you are given the option of 3 subclasses, and choosing one opens up their own unique set of utility skills and/or weapon skills.

Actually, the one character “can do it all” concept is not new at all. In my opinion it seems like a great idea at first, but then quickly loses the appeal after maxing out one or more “classes.”
