All they do is spawn obnoxious adds and generate fields of effect. No special skills to interrupt, no player-available skill system like GW1 encounters had…it just feels very boring and really not engaging in the slightest.

I was doing the claw island mission last night and i literally sat in one spot and went afk while my warrior had Longbow 1 on auto-attack. All they can do to make this encounter not completely afk-faceroll is to give the boss a 5 second fear mechanic? Are they serious with this combat system?

Also, a lot of the NPCs are just standing around…like 10-20 NPCs on a battlefield with a giant dragon..they’re just standing there as if they neglected to program them to do anything. Just standing there in the same spot, not even attacking while some of them fire mortars. It really breaks immersion when the dragon sits there and does absolutely nothing but some cheap animations and braindead mechanics and the vigil soldiers are standing there lifelessly without even a show of emotion or movement.

This is a problem and needs to be looked at. These encounters are braindead zergs, especially Claw Of Jormag. They aren’t even fun or engaging for a solo player, much less an entire team.

This is absolutely kitten poor design…for what? I guess a streamlined, brain-dead casual combat system.

I will shelve this game indefinitely if i feel the same 6 months from now. I waited 6 years playing GW1 for this game to come out and it’s nothing alike. The combat system is like fisher price – grade. I want my monk back!

I feel you, seriously.And you are better off ignoring all the NPC in you personal story because yes, they mostly just stand there and be lame. If you ever thought GW1 AI was bad, you’re in for a real treat. They’re also incredibly weak, it’s basically just solo missions.

There was a recent dev post saying that they intend to go back and make the game’s bosses more interesting to fight.

Dang casuals stole my job and my wife! They’re not even from around here! They should go back home and actually work on making their own games a decent place to play, the border-jumping scum!
