I absolutely love the effect, it looks absolutely fantastic on my “black widow”-themed reaper. It’s worth every single gem.
BUT
There’s a big BUT.
There’s still lots to work on the mechanism of it. As it is it’s very cumbersome.
1. You need to go into the inventory to activate it.
2. It takes inventory space, doh
3. As much as I agree on it being de-activated when you’re attacked, stands to reason, once you’re done fighting you can’t really activate it until it decides it wants to get activated by itself
4. If you fight too long it gets de-activated completely (even gone from the quick bar) and you need to go back to the inventory and activate it.

I don’t know, can’t we get an equipment slot for this type of effects? They’re obviously the equivalent of “mounts” GW2 has, and even if they don’t really give any kind of speed boost or anything and are just cook effects, it is obviously that as we got a few we will get more in the future.
Can’t the devs work a little bit on this one to make it less clunky?

Otherwise, again, I love it.

I will /sign to improving the interface for many items that you currently have to use from inventory. Its a terrible mechanism that means that people don’t use their special items as much as they should, especially if they paid cash for them.

I’m pretty sure that the answer here is: if it was easy to do “mounts” in the sense of an extra slot, etc, it’d be done that way. Since they chose this more cumbersome thing … it’s an experiment to see how well people like a system that they can do without significantly more costly changes to the client and server.

FWIW, I’m pretty sure it’s more or less a recolor, and maybe small animation changes, from the ley line ascender and glider, so it’s mostly art resources, not backend, behind this one.
