So as everyone knows, when you do the world boss events you get a bonus chest with 100% chance of a rare at the end, or an exotic. What people don’t know is it is not just the world bosses that you find on dragon timer. There are actually a lot of these events. I was running them yesterday with some friends who never knew they were there. We had a blast. SO besides the ones listed on Dragon timer, ill list the other ones.

Every Temple

Kill the Foulbear Chieftain and her elite guards. Meta event is called Ogre Wars. Located in fields of ruin.

Defeat Ulgoth the Modniir and his minions. Forgot the exact name of the meta event, but it is in the north eastern part of harathi hinterlands.

Defeat the dredge commissar. This is a dredge meta event where dredge and priory are fighting. It is located around the entry into SE in dredgehaunt cliffs.

Kill admirl Taidha Covington. This is a meta event in bloodtide, south west of the whispers base.

Defeat the fire shaman and his minions. This one can be kind of hard with a low amount of people (less than 10). North western part of iron marches in the flame legion base.

Destroy the Eye of Zhaitian. This is not a meta event. This is a world boss that has quite a few pre reqs. You will kill 3 champions, lots of vets, and then the ending is fighting a legendary boss. This is located in Zho’qafa catacombs.

Finally there is a mini dungeon that gives it too. Flame Temple Tombs. This is the north eastern part of Diessa Plateau.

Running around doing this with your friends is a lot more fun than spamming LFG for dungeons and fracs. I made about 5-6g doing them.

Notes: Dredge commissar, taidha, eye of zhaitain are all prone to bugging out. Some temples are too.

Didn’t know about that. Thanks. I can think of several other Group Events that should give one of these chests too, like the Nageling Giant, the Blood Witch and Xolotl. Might help cull down on the hordes of players who show up to events like Maw and Shadow Behemoth purely for the chests.

I farm a lot of these, but like you said: covington’s trigger seems really buggy, sometimes the commisar refuses to show up until a server reset. Never bothered with the eye because I never seen anyone do it. Similarly, no one does ogre wars on my server.

The fire shaman has some really nice mechanics but it gets really tedious with very few people (less than three) it is quite soloable however as long as you know how to dodge those stupid axes.

I also recommend doing the Gates to Arah event chain, since you can get a chest with which I believe has like a 90% chance of giving you at least a rare inside the chest (I’ve always gotten at least a rare every time I opened this chest these past few weeks), although the chest doesn’t appear like the daily bonus chest like other bosses. The Gates to Arah events also features hundreds of mob to kill, so you can collect those precious t6 mats along the way towards getting the chest at the end.

I’ve only known about half of those events, and I still felt like I was “in the know”. it’s cool when you or a couple friends of yours know about obscure chest events, and it lets you get a bunch of rares that most people normally don’t know about.

I found most of those by accident, actually. Was doing an event chain, then suddenly I’ve got a chest.

I’m in quite a few large guilds, so when I do events I rep each guild announcing it in their guild chat and where to go. I can usually net 10-20 players

Convington, i’ve been told, can bug out a lot. The dredge commissar is random. No matter what the other parts of the meta event are on (from what I’ve seen. Spent an hour doing it one night, never spawned, came in one morning and he was up with a ton of other parts of the meta event). The eye of zhaitian can be tedious to spawn. Lots of pre reqs.

For eye you do
1. Burn the caskets in the zho’qafar catacombs
2. Kill the 3 vet bosses. I think its a risne noble, abomination, and one other. Differen’t parts of the catacombs
3. Wait 30 mins after killing bosses
4. Head east of the catacombs into the swamp. An risne Anti Air gun will spawn and need to be destroyed.
5. Once destroyed a pact team will be air dropped and the main mission will start

Pro Tip: NEVER talk to the pact team until they are inside of the catacombs. They are prone to glitching, especially right outside the entry of the catacombs.

flame temple tombs is fun. Rhendaks spear and signet are both worth quite a lot. Had a guildy get the signet last night, worth 22g haha.

I’ve got a daily rare chest from Tequatl, then another from Ulgoth the Modniir. I was under the impression there was only 1 daily rare chest per account, but clearly I got 2 for different types of events. Does anyone know how these are grouped?
Like, can you kill Tequatl, Fire Elemental, Ulgoth, and Eye of Zhaitian and get a daily rare from all of them? which can you kill and still get another daily rare from which others?

you get one for each event.

It’s one bonus chest, per day, per account, per event. So you can get a guaranteed rare (or exotic) from each meta-event per day.

Anyone know why the Cursed shore Pirate guy lost his bonus chest? we used to do him as a team, fighting into the ship, now its gone no one does it anymore..

I bet there are a bunch of underwater events that give chests that no one does.

Would surprise me. We’ll try the pirate chest later. I want to try the following events tomorrow for bonus chest. If someone has recently done them, please say so. These events though are great. My guild gets about 9-10 people and we ask for help from other players while doing them, usually it will take us 3-5 hours to do about 7 of the meta events. We gain like 1500 influence during that time.

Ok so kill flame legion tribune, battle for ascalon, krait, rotbeared, and a large shark boss didn’t give any bonus chest. Ill try to test more tomorrow.

The scaling on the catacombs boss event first two monster spawns is amazing. It is actually tough and fun. I love seeing the zergs reaction to thinking it will be just another health sponge.

Whoever is in charge of scaling the other events, tell him to look at why this one is such a success imo.

1. Monsters aren’t insanely tough
2. You need to pay attention, or else you will probably die
3. The monsters have interesting fight mechanics that aren’t over powered.
4. The monsters are large so animations are noticeable.

Eh usually when I do my event runs, i get about 3g worth of rares and another 2g worth in random drops.

I have been told I’m extremely unlucky haha. Before they buffed dragon drops, I did them 2-3 times a day and never got an exotic. When they buffed them I did them and the other bosses once a day for about 3-4 weeks. I only got I believe 2 exotics that were worth less than 2g. I’ve been doing this whole meta event run (about 8 meta events, takes 3-5 hours usually) for about 4 days and never gotten an exotic.

But I find it fun and don’t need the money too badly, so I’m enjoying it.
