Dear Arenanet. The addition of difficulty to the world bosses is much appreciated. I just did Golem MK 2 and the Jungle Worm and Shadow Behemoth, they were interesting and much stronger.

Now why is the loot still complete garbage?

On Golem MK 2 you at least added 2 Champion chests as additional rewards but that is not really much.

However on both Shadow Behemoth and Jungle Worm the loot was the exact same as it was before patch, only that they were significantly harder.

Can we please get increased Dragonite Ore drops from the lower level bosses now that they are harder and some extra rewards? Its disheartening killing them for 10-15 minutes and then only get the usual 4 blues as reward from the end chest!

Shadow Behemoth used to take around 2-3 minutes. Just defeated it with around 12:58 left on the timer.

Exactly, you all just need to be happy with what you get, or just don’t do it. That way, there is no “Risk” and you will get no “Reward”. So in my opinion, take it or leave it. I think the rewards are way more then they should be. If I was a developer, I would just nerf them all back to the way it used to be, just 1 guaranteed rare a day per acct. That’s how it should be. The economy in this game has gotten way out of control.

The meta events don’t seem to take much longer than they used to, and you don’t get much more reward for them. What they have now is the ability to kill you..which they should have ALWAYS had.

The reward is fine. If you get blues and greens you’re working on your magic find, and if your magic find goes high enough, you’ll be rewarded constantly in other areas. I’m up to 88% magic find now and I’m getting better drops than ever throughout the entire game. I’m happy for greens and blues right now.

And I’m getting a sufficient quantity of rares (and even the ocassional exotic) to keep me in mats.

Heres an idea, when Anet impliments the precursor crafting, make it require pieces off of Teq and these other revamped bosses. That will help add incentive to the encounters plus make crafting a precursor actually kind of hard and give people the feeling of accomplishment if they make one.

You say they don’t “seem” to take much longer, but it’s clear that, in practice, they do take very much longer. Jungle Wyrm used to be problematic because he was sometimes dead before everyone could even tag him (i.e. seconds). Now he’s problematic because ten minutes spent killing him is not as profitable as ten minutes spent on really any event involving a large number of mobs. It’s from one ridiculous extreme to another only slightly less ridiculous one.

It’s nice that they’re harder, but the loot really isn’t very good for time involved. I mean, we can always thus not do those ones, but it seems kind of like a waste.

That’s exactly what I’m doing. However, what I’m saying is that it seems like a waste, because they could be cool encounters. They went from ridiculously too easy to still easy but somewhat tedious and time-consuming. I suspect the people saying “But it takes the same time for me!” are looking at real peak-time loads, and not all of us can play at those times.

It’s not utterly horrible, but I think it could do with a bit of looking at.

I don’t think anet understands what’s good or better loot means. For example, why the hell are we getting a guaranteed rare from world bosses when its only once per day? Give us an exotic, how is an exotic too much when there was so many in the last halloween’s mini dungeon? TP is destroying reward system because they’re scared it may kitten up the economy… how about giving us reward, like you know, an rpg? I haven’t beaten the new Teq (tried three times all epic failures) but if, i repeat, if reward is in greens/blues after beating him once im gone and will never bother again.

In the beginning:

World bosses were stupidly easy, but also dropped almost no loot. Not even a single rare. Champions were actively avoided rather than challenged because they often dropped NO loot. People complained, and nobody did the bosses because they were both unfun un unrewarding. People zerged Penitent and Shelter in cursed shore because it was just as faceroll, but paid way better.

Then!

World bosses were given guaranteed rares, which got multi-farmed, without being made harder. People did the bosses, which they still said were unfun, because it was more rewarding than other activities.

And Then!

World bosses got put on the daily bonus chest system, having their loot scaled back because all that reward for zero risk was bad. Bosses were still unfun. People did them because it was easy rares, but complained they couldn’t have their old farming speed of risk-free superloot. Bosses were still boring.

After that!

Event scaling! Champion Boxes! Other things that screwed the farming pie! Bosses became abandoned because they were a less efficient faceroll than the new faceroll.

Now!

Bosses getting the balance pass to marry risk with reward. Bosses are now getting challenge adjustments so that they are fun to fight… but their rewards aren’t in line with the challenge… which is exactly the situation champions were in at release.

Historical precedent! (The TLDR!)

When previous challenging content when unused to to a greater risk than reward, the reward was adjusted up to the risk. (Champ boxes, dungeon boss bags.)

When previous braindead content went overfarmed due to a greater reward than risk imbalance, risk was increased (Event scaling, world bosses…. also dungeon boss bags, heh)

Therefore, the likely outcome of this scenario, given historical record:

Bosses will not be made easier, but their rewards will be increased.

Champions will be placed on some sort of timer system, preventing players from farming them in a static loop as they respawn and in stead requiring players to venture to different zones and kill different champions.

dude u want precursors to drop to u or something ? u r not supposed to get cool stuff everytime because if that happened the items will have no value

Are you referring to me? If so, no. I prefer they leave precursors as is and don’t even put in a crafting way to get them. I’m fine with how they are. I’m working on my 4th legendary now, it’s really not hard, just people whine cause they want instant gratification.

I’m referring to how for me teq isn’t worth the effort since this game doesn’t really have “bragging rights” like other MMOs with 1st kills and guild competition. But also for how hard he is, the loot table is pretty kittenty. They should have added a chance to get a unique weapon skin off him, not just a recycled ascended GS skin that is green/black with some crappy stats.

People will always opt for the easiest and fastest way to make money since it’s human nature. If Anet wants people to do these big events, they need to add something unique to make people want to devote the time needed to do them. Something like each dragon has a chance for a unique skin, not some recycled skin with a new color but an actual new skin. I mean honestly, it really can’t take that long to think up something for each weapon type based on the dragon type. Like Teq weapons maybe drip black ooze and let off green fumes like poison, Jormag weapons can have snow/ice crystals falling off them, and shatterer weapons can be purple weapons with a translucent purple glow around them.

Actually not happening for some of us. The same bug that was there before the loot change is there now where sometimes the bosses don’t drop a thing, and the bags have only blues in them.

I spoke about this last month too before this change was supposedly being tested. Some things shouldn’t be 0 when you’re doing them in the open world.

It’s just like salvaging for ectos, ectos shouldn’t be 0-3 it should be 1-3 so that if you hit a bad streak it’s not all 0’s.

This is a pretty great idea, doesn’t even have to be limited to weapons. A cool back piece or some armour with the boss’ look integrated in its design would make for an awesome trophy.

Ideally it wouldn’t be another RNG mess though, instead have a small amount of items drop that can be used to craft or forge the skin/gear. I know I definitely prefer a little grinding with a a guaranteed reward over a ‘chance’ at good loot.

I think the Risk/Reward is right for most world bosses.

Before there was no risk, you could just afk auto attacking and collect your chest at the end. Now there’s a high risk of dying if you just afk but a low risk for event failure if everyone participates.

This is an issue that has to be addressed. With the new bosses the events are now more difficult. Yes- maybe they should have been like this from the get-go but the deal is they’re not really rewarding in any decent way.
Excepting the Dragonite ore – which you’re better off getting at temples anyway ( better do it fast before those get buffed up too) the loot from these bosses doesn’t come anywhere near the new amount of effort players put in.

Instead of fighting Golem Mark II for 8 minutes – try running a champion train in Frostgorge for the same amount of time.
Compare results – and you’ll see the problem.

I think the problem ultimately comes down to the fact that things with not a lot of lore behind them and with a lot of people participating ( and ultimately swaying the result of given event) aren’t going to be well liked.
Before these bosses were given a guaranteed rare nobody did them. Like ever. Except for Jormag because people thought they might get a precursor ( the rumor was wild back in those days).

People do the meta event bosses for the loot -and the loot is poor for the amount of work. If they took Dragonite ore off the board for these bosses – given the new difficulty I doubt anyone would even bother with them ever again.

Group – sorry – ZERG content is not something that people like.
An instanced area for 8-10 people would be much better.

Even if they do it – that won’t prevent the players from farming them as best as possible.
The whole problem with the game right now is not the zerg farming. It’s not a good thing but it is not the CAUSE. it is a SYMPTOM of the problem and the problem is that a good part of the player base are interested in JUST making money fast and getting the stuff they want.

I’m part of this sort of group. This is the mentality I go in this game with – having fun for me is getting the stuff that I want. In GW2 that stuff is very expensive ( in may Twilight cost me 1300 gold. One run of CoF gave around 75 silver. do the math.)

They’ve taken nearly EVERY effective way of making decent money in the game OUT of the game.
You can’t farm anything effectively. It’s all time gated, drop gated, or some other form of restriction is in place.
Not all people want or feel the need to venture into the TP.
If they want people to stop zerging champs, or going for the min/max approach to everything they have to realize that there’s a gap – a very wide – a TOO WIDE – gap between the shinies that people want and the means through which they can obtain them.

It has nothing to do with “have to farm”. It’s more about having the option to CHOOSE to farm if I wanted to. Sometimes i’m feeling lazy and just want to throw in some music and just mindlessly follow the zerg and farm. I should be able to do that. And making 10g a day is peanuts when you are talking about 600-800g precursors. I can make an easy 20g just harvesting Ori and Ancient wood a day too but like I said, if i’m either done with dungeons for the day or just don’t feel like dealing with people yet still want to make cash, I should be able to choose to farm champs for cash since Anet has already nerfed the hell outta trying to farm normal mobs.

Champions will be placed on some sort of timer system, preventing players from farming them in a static loop as they respawn and in stead requiring players to venture to different zones and kill different champions.

What are you going to do once you have all the things you want?

And that’s where the dangling carrot of new skins and stuff come into play. As long as Anet continues to add new skins or gear, you will always have something to grind for. I too am like Harper, I find most of my fun in grinding for the stuff I want. I also like doing new content but after a few times, it’s no longer new so then I focus on grinding for the gear/items I want.

sPVP, WvW ( things i would enjoy but hardly touch since i need to get cash for my ascended armor grind, and ongoing ascended weapon grind).

In Guild Wars 1 – which i played the heck out of – I got all the stuff I wanted ( Wanted – not needed – because once HoM rewards were confirmed to give rewards in GW2 i farmed the hell out of those) in about 100-200 hours of gameplay.
I played that game for over 1500 hours – so the best answer to your question would be – just keep playing for the fun of it. For the experience, for the cool stuff – for all the stuff I don’t have time to do right now because I’m supposed to be chasing down gear by farming like mad.

I went from 0 to 463 hutsman in one day – cost me 44 gold plus a TON of mats i had already gathered. At around 4 gold/ hour that’s 11 hours of work without the mats – and for what? I’m not even close to crafting my weapon yet.

Anet fails to see that the game in itself should be our reason to play.
The EXPERIENCE, the LORE, the COMMUNITY. These are the things that keep people in a game and keep bringing them back. I remember a time in GW1 when I did dungeons for the experience, for the fun, a time when I could stop and stare at the decorations and interiors and such and not speed clear it all.
But that’s gone now because this game has a very different pace. And you can tell.

1500 hours of GW1 in 3 years. And almost 1300 of GW2 in one year. So – the devs got what they wanted – kept me in game longer – but I’d have to say I don’t really feel I’ve enjoyed more than 300-400 of those hours. The rest were spend grinding sadly…

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

Ok, so say you and Harper had your dreams realized and ArenaNet decided to get rid of grinding completely. Log in, talk to NPC X, boom – any piece of digital kit this game offers is yours for the asking.

What would you do then?

Because if I understand you correctly, you’d stop playing. Since you explicitly say “I find most of my fun in grinding for the stuff I want.” Why on earth would ArenaNet extending the grind, you explicitly say you enjoy, in any way be a bad thing for you? If anything they are extending your enjoyment.

So go do those things. It’s all there.

I have a legendary. I “worked” on it from January until late June. You could say I farmed for it, but what I did barely fits that description. The worst I did was the T6 circuit over and over again. I did this for the cash, the mats, and the fun because I like the high level zones, and doing the run gave me a rough framework that led me all over the zones (kinda like hearts in lowbie areas). I always mapped the T6 nodes for my server mates as I went, and on patch days the feeling of being responsible for that map was far more pressing than any urge I had for the legendary. I didn’t farm CoF, in fact I’ve probably been in there all of 7 or 8 times total. Any single ascended weapon isn’t going to take nearly that much effort. and I am simply NOT going to do anything I don’t want to to get it done.

By the way I have 2,300+ hours in more than 17k on Bash alone. Been playing since launch. My basic play philosophy is “OOOOH that looks big and scary! I’ma go kill it!”

I am a grade a lollygagger, and a screw up who will wipe his buddies for the lulz. If my lackadaisical kitten can get geared out it’s not hard.

I’m telling you, just do the things you like to do and the loot will come.

It’s garbage rewards for down teq.

This is a free MMO. The rewards are meant to be total crap. After your 5,000th run your get some good stuff.
