Hey, I didn’t know where else to turn because I am getting a little frustrated with reporting the same bots day in and day out and seeing them farm week after week. I really hope you guys are taking this seriously because its becoming an epidemic. Not only is it hurting the game economy its also hurting gem prices because most of these bots are tied to gold selling sites which sell cheaper than GW. So a player has no reason to buy gems from you guys he can just buy from the sites. Furthermore, it gives these sites way more reason to spam and bot, also lowering prices on some things that players use to make money on. I don’t know if anyone else is seeing scores of bots and being spammed by at least four gold selling mails a every few hours or if its just my server but a more aggressive stance really has to be taken.
If you were to put a mod on an account and just go to a popular farming spot like in frostgorge sound you could nail at least 10-15 bots at any time during the day.
Guys, please step it up – it’s hurting the integrity of the game.
i saw some bots yesterday kinda made me laugh, about 10 naked female players botting some centaurs in Queensdale..

And many other threads. This issue has been discussed over and over and over again. Just keep reporting the bots! They know about the problem. They have SAID they know about the problem. I’m sure they are working on it, along with many other problems (trade post, missing voices from personal story, diminishing rewards bug, etc…)
A little patience!
Or go search for a thread that has ‘F4-RM’ in it, just use search you will likely find it in the suggestion forum and leave a comment on whether you like the suggestion

Personally I would hope that anyone who cared about this game would just buy gems. It may not be the cheapest option, but it’s much better for the game overall. In an ideal world, people would stop selling GW2 gold because no one bought it! Since they gave us a legitimate way to buy gold, essentially.
I know it’s just demoralizing seeing the same bots you’ve reported every day for the last month teleporting around killing mobs.
Posting this again, because obviously people don’t listen. Its NOT Anets fault there are bots, they may or may not be banning them as they are reported, but the simple fact is even if they ban the account, the hackers will just get another one and keep going. Stop blaming Anet for the bots, they are not going away anytime soon.
If they do it like most MMOs do, they will wait and do a mass ban at one time. Problem is, the botters will just create/steal new accounts and continue on their way. And by patching into the game files a block for whatever bot they are using, by weeks end the botters will have already come up with a new program to bot with. It’s a never ending cycle, sadly, if you don’t like botters, then playing any MMO is not for you. Gold selling/account hacking is a MULTI BILLION dollar a year industry…so, sadly, they will never go away until people STOP buying their gold. YOU, the consumer are what’s causing the bots. AGAIN, THE ONLY WAY THEY WILL EVER GO AWAY IS IF PEOPLE STOP BUYING THE GOLD FROM THEM!
To be honest… how the hell am I soposed to tell the difference between a bot and a player I see in the game world? Sure i report the gold sellers every dam time they solicit their spam message or mail to my toons. But how am I to really know who is a bot or player if i run past them in game. It could be an actual player farming a spot. i wouldn’t want to be banned for a false report.

For the most part, they’re the ones blinking around from mob to mob, though there are some less sophisticated bots out there. Another easy way is to watch them turn. If they turn instantly and face their targets perfectly, they’re a bot.
After seeing how liberal ANet was with the banhammer, it’s downright depressing to find myself reporting the same bots in the same place every day. Obviously bot-control simply isn’t a priority.
@Swag,
Reporting player offenses for offensive speech/names is a lot easier for support to handle than bots. They look at the chat log, determine if it was an offense, issue the ban. For bots, they have to check game behavior and other variables. Not every bot report is accurate and each needs review. Even if they were to add some form of automatic detection, a technical hurdle that might affect gameplay processing negatively, many of the reports would still need personal review by Arena Net staff as the botters would just issue a support ticket to review their case as a false positive. In theory they could make a foolproof (meaning no false positives) bot detector, but it would probably be so limited that it would only catch the most egregious offenses. If such a detector only caught 1% of the bots would you say it was a good tool?
These are unfortunately not easy nuts to crack as a developer. I’m sure you have constructed some solution in your mind that you think is perfect and thus because it isn’t implemented Arena Net doesn’t think this is a priority .Your solution isn’t perfect and they do take this seriously (see the numerous responses on the forum). However, if you really do think it is easy as you say here’s a link you should consider checking out:

We’re aware of the issue. As you can probably imagine, investigating and verifying and reviewing each and every report of a bot takes some time. Customer Support is working as fast as they can. Thank you.
