Botters.
stupid people they deserve a perma ban !!
Same thing is happening on all servers, sad to say it, but unless you get on top of bots straight away, you have lost the battle. The Bots are now so well entrenched, Anet will never get rid of them all. I know the program they use. It’s same one my old guild used in Ebonlore years ago, idiots like them are half of the problem in todays MMO’s.
Anet are probably swamped at moment, an as a byproduct have lost the war on stopping bots.
Warp hacks are now so widespread, that on Sorrows you can see people flicking everywhere constantly, without any fear of detection whatsoever.
I’ve seen a lot of talk about bots lately (I even posted a screen shot of some myself), but I’m curious to know how they can be realistically stopped.
I would really like to hear how bots work, why they work, why they’re so hard to stop, and ideas for how to stop them.
This is starting to become a real threat actually.
I logged back on a few minutes ago and they are still there botting.
Yeah, noticed a few people botting in blazeridge steppes the past few days (tarnished coast) I heard a couple of guys got banned for it, but theres still one, this rifle warrior thats always hanging around steeleye. I and possibly other people have been reporting her but she is still there.

It’s sad to see the same person always there. I’ve already stumbled on a botting guy from the [HOT] “Heart of the Tyria” guild quite a few times on Tarnished Coast too.
As long as there is a user interface, there will be bots.
Botting programs can be made in multiple ways. The most common way is to simply carry out a series of repeated or pre-programmed keystrokes. More advanced bots will actually pretend to be a legitimate game client and interact directly with the server, simulating “natural” play.
A lot of botters are botting for RMT purposes. (real money trading). They’ll have a series of bots farming gold or leveling characters to be sold on eBay or other websites.
Some botters are just looking for an advantage in the game. They may know that is wrong, but are otherwise arrogant enough to think they’ll never be caught.
It is also possible, but rare, that a botter is an otherwise innocent player who doesn’t know better. They may have been taught by “friends” that this is how everyone does it or were gullible enough to trust a “gain an advantage in GW2” ad on a forum or website.
It is hard to deal with bots, because it can be difficult to differentiate a well-programmed bot from a player, especially to a degree at which you can say for certain that the player is indeed a bot and proceed to ban the player.
As for the exploits (teleports and melee range glitches), it all comes down to processing the reports, proving the use of the exploit, warning/banning the offenders and then fixing the exploit. It can take time to fix these, as it isn’t necessarily just one line of code that needs to be patched, but an entire system that needs to be reworked and secured.
boo! I hate bots!! I hope they fix it up soon! Thanks for the info on how they act in this game, I actually haven’t stumbled upon one yet.. But I have seen a crap ton of hacked players spamming websites..
Can we as a player base report websites that sell accounts?

Do not report botters on the forums. Just like any other report, it must go through the Customer Support team. Thanks.
