Questions to Anet:

To what extent, or involvement is required on behalf of the community to help bring an end to botters, or at the very least impact their game in such a way that most of them go elsewhere? If I’m the only person that reports them, does it get looked at? Do reports only get exposure after “x” number of incidents?

The reason I ask these questions is it’s becoming increasingly difficult to get players to come to a spot to report botters. People simply aren’t interested, or believe that their report will do nothing.

Now, Anet has done nothing to cause the community to feel in such a way that I’m aware of, but lets face it, there are other MMOs where the feeling is the same, and I believe players just carry that thought process from one game to another.

I’ve reported groups of bots just traveling in a pack, teleporting around an area blasting away at every mob as it spawns. I’ve come back through the area days later, and they’re still there – with the same stupid names that are just the mashing of keys on a keyboard until one takes.

You answer your own question OP.

The reason why people are not interested in reporting bots is because they have tried reporting them in the past, but the same bots are still there five days later.

Did we really need another post about this?

Those who believe that their reports are useless haven’t stuck around to see most bots disappear within a day or 2 at most. A single report does indeed matter.

What we can do while waiting for anti-bot code to be finished and deployed, is to remain constructive and supportive as a community. The problem will be solved, and I don’t believe we should be making a big deal out of it (read: sending a massive article to news sites) just yet.

Solving this issue is very important to the game, and subsequently peoples’ jobs. It’ll get corrected as soon as possible, hang in there!

The best thing players can do is continue to report every incident of suspected botting behavior they witness using the in-game ticketing system. Thanks for the continued reports and everyone’s patience. It’s greatly appreciated!
